New Woosh Crank-drive Bike

Can of course be removed but only for servicing,
So I should imagine that the charge / discharge leads can be unplugged for 'servicing'.. if that's the case then it shouldn't be very hard to make an extra charge lead.

However as the bike folds nice and small then just stick it under the kitchen table and charge it there :p

So, on the web page, it says the bike is good for riders over 100kg... So far so good. What's the max weight for rider? (I'm a big guy)
My posts were stuck in limbo for some time, but now fixed. Can I ask the above question again (its buried down the thread somewhat now)

You don't say how much you weigh or how tall you are. The Sirocco and Zephyr CDs are suitable for anyone between 5 ft 4" (although that is a bit on the short side) and 6 ft - but over that and you would probably need a larger frame.

The 100KG is a limit we tend to place on our models with rear hub motor, as these are quite likely to stall going up steep inclines if you are over this weight.

The CD versions are different and will take more or less any weigh because you can always select a lower gear if needed.

I'm 6' and 150kg. Motor is one of the concerns I have when buying an ebike (wheels and frame being the others). I've seen a number of bike quote a max rider weight. I'd be shipping the bike abroad, and warranty would be challenging, so the last thing I want to do is buy something where if it breaks I get told "hey, you're way too heavy for that bike - we're not going to help you".

Pugsley.....I have sold a number of Kudos Duke bikes to big guys,one guy on the Isle of Wight customised his with a bugle and white wall tyres and moody paint job,quite the local celebrity.With a big guy,battery at the back the rear end weight is considerable-the back wheel is the weak point and we usually have to build a stronger spoked back wheel at a wheel specialists.
I must say that we have stopped supplying bikes abroad because of damage in transit and warranty considerations,150kg is some size----sir been weightlifting!!!!! The Duke is a big mans bike and very strong frame. I would have no problem with the motor,the Bafang motor is a very reliable unit.
But as others have said.....I can recommend the Duke,but sorry no warranty.

IMHO the motor doesn't have enough torque for a 150kg rider. It would stall on hills that aren't even steep, with a risk of burning out or internal gear damage. OP needs a much stronger geared motor like a Bafang BPM/CST, Heinzmann, Ezee or a MAC, otherwise it has to be a crank-drive.

ElectricDave.....you are probably right,I must say I have not supplied a bike to a rider of that weight,even whilst i was making the post I was thinking that a BPM motor would be stronger,but that would mean custom building the bike and Kudos does not offer that....he would be too big for our crank drive bike.

ElectricDave....you just seem to be the guy on here who kindly and with patience sorts out most peoples electrical problems.....I seemed to have been nicknamed KudosDave by others and happy to inherit it.
Its just that there are so many Daves on this site that request for replies can be confusing at times.

It's tempting to think that there is a mysterious affinity between the name David and e-biking, but in truth there was a huge surge centred on 1960 in the popularity of David as a boys name. During the years around then the name David ranked in 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the names chosen for babies. In 2011 13,098 babies were named David, in 1960 it was a huge 85,927.

So we just have an extremely large proportion of Davids in the region around 50 years of age now, very much an e-biking and business management age band.

I think the issue with your 150Kgs is not so much the motor. The crank drive models that we offer (CD) should be able to cope with that. But as I said before, what may still cause problems are spokes breaking, particularly if you pedal very energetically, the lateral stresses can break the strongest spokes.
I think you can tie and solder your spokes to make the wheels stronger or get a specialist wheel builder to replace the wheels with something that isn't going to let you down.

I do concur with KudosDave about the warranty. If you are taking this bike abroad and you need to ship it back to us for servicing (you might need to at some point) and back out to you again, then you would have to bear the cost of this....something you need to take into account.
Having said all this I am confident that crank drive models are definitely better for heavier riders and unless someone is extremely weighty, ours should fit the bill.

Alternatively he could have a good strong non powered bike with a front wheel conversion kit and I am sure the eZee motor is 'man enough' for the job.

The other plus point is that eZee have a worldwide network of distributors and dealers.

Thanks for the link Dave, interesting.

It Peaked in 1955 at 86,171, when I was bought into the world. Although I am really Edward David I have always been known as David.
