I am 65 years old and 10 years ago cycle Lands End To John’o Groats. Due to a neck injury I had to hang up my road bike 9 years ago. Whilst on holiday in Holland I hired an ebike, loved it and bought a Trek Navigator t500+. it’s a big sit up and beg city bike designed for the Dutch market. I live in the Ribble Valley in Lancashire and it’s fine for the flattish areas and the range was about 30 miles, now I wouldn’t expect more than 15 miles. The battery needs re-celling as it can judder at times.
A couple of years ago I was on holiday in Brugge and found the classiest bike shop called Exceller Bikes, not big, but pure quality. They’re Brompton dealers and I thought I might buy one for my motorhome, I had a test ride and was very impressed, the owner said that as I live in a hilly area he could fit a Crystalite motor. It’s a little beauty.
Earlier this year I had an operation to repair the neck injury, the op was successful, but I had a stroke whilst unconscious and have lost the use of my left eye and have weakness in my left arm and leg. I want to get fitter again so I am now awaiting a Trek Dual Sport plus which should be ready next week, never bought a bike without a test ride and a fitting so fingers crossed.

hi buying an ebike without a test ride who on earth would do that tut tut tut .............. by the way have just ordered one yep without a test ride. BUT having rode 2 different rear hub bikes one torque sensor the other cadence, one 19kg the other 24kg, one low range battery the other longish range, then i believe that i kinda know what im now after. Having said that i would not attempt to do this with a mid motor as i have NO Experience and as have been told on here the difference is night and day. Enjoy the new bike get out as often as possible and best of luck with re-hab.

Cheers and thanks for your comments, in the times of civid 19 I just want to get out, “it’s the new norm” not comforting to buy a bike without a fitting though, but I will risk it.
