The bike weighs 15kg at moment, so I guess I got around 8kg to play with, I'm guessing that the batteries are the heaviest then the motor? But as long as I stay around that mark I should be golden. I understand that guys here are road enthusiasts, is there a forum that's suited better to my requirements? Although I can't fault the information I've had so far here and I thank you all for it.

you are new to the forum, so it does not matter much where you started your thread.
The e-mtb sub-forum should really be where you would want to start this thread but on the whole, ready made machines are far superior to what amateurs can produce even with a substantial budget because they are much better thought out than kits. When you build a kit, it's not just the look (exposed wiring) that you have to compromise on, it's also the weight distribution and geometry. That's why I keep banging on about trying out a factory made e-mtb.
