hi all,
my name is chris and i live in hull. i am in my 30s and have very little experiences of bicycles in general other than as a kid growing up.
i've just come from owning a couple of 125 scooters, a honda s-wing and a honda pcx125. after writing the pcx off when the damage only looked superficial (and no injury to myself), through exasperation i have had a short period relying on public transport. lack of road tax and the cheap insurance has brought me to you guys :). wish i could say it was for the environment or a wish to get fit but unfortunately its purely economic and freedom of movement purposes that i am looking at getting an electric bicycle.

i have not got an ebike yet so will shortly be posting a help, what should i get thread but lol after looking through all sorts of reviews and forum posts i am still unsure-the choice is so wide. i have a few ideas but will post in that thread. next week i am off to 'cycling made easy' (lol am i allowed to mention their name, i dont work for them i promise) to check out a few of their bikes and to take test rides. i am travelling a fair distance but they seemed to have a good selection of bikes and well thought itd be prudent to ride an ebike before buying even if its not the one i buy.

with the exception of a few heated debates ive read related to 2 bikes funnily enough that i am considering, you guys all seem nice and very helpful.

i cannot contribute much as regards knowledge but i very much hope you can enlighten me on this world.

i hope to use the bike for travelling to shops aswell as longer distance travelling between cities so the bike will probably get used dailyish.

thats all for now...now to decide what to post about what to get..lol thatll probably be up before you read this.

anyway cheers and thanks for having me....

Nice to see more younger members seeing the light :).

You can learn a great deal about them in a very short space of time when needs must ;). I hadn't riden a bicycle for over 18 years until September last year when car was disposed of and bikes became main form of transport. Probably been on public transport three times or so since then and fitter than I've been since I was a teenager without the total exhaustion that comes from long unassisted rides when you're not used to them / not especially keen to get used to them !

Hope you find a good bike which suits you. Much healthier on an eBike than sat on a scooter .

Thanks alex :) .i really looking forward to checking out the different bikes. They do seem a bit expensive but well i suppose you average it out over how long you will have it and theres no road tax or costly insurance. Buses are along every 10 minutes where i live but having your own transport so much more convenient and if i get a trailer too, lol i will be carrying more than when i had my scooter and easily carrying stuff to my door.

They are very knowledgeable and have enough choice to give you a flavour of what e-bikes are about. Dont worry about your age,in Holland and Germany, teenagers to 80's enjoy and use these bikes as a means of transport

Thanks for all the info guys.
@dave elecgobikes is certainly close to my home. The kudos king looks a nice bit of kit. Think i will take a looksie.
@john. Thanks for the link, crikey there are so many bikes on the market. I am hoping to go to 2 dealers on monday to test ride and learn things and will go from there.
@john & d8veh that trailer is excellent value for money -not sure i would get a lot more from the hurley- just the shape of it i thought suits portability more and strapping a camping backpack on with equipment inside.

Edit: would a trailer with a low center of gravity be more stable than one with a higher one- i am assuming it would be though the hurley has 2 wheels so would probably counter that fact !?
