I took delivery of my new Ping 20Ah battery yesterday - on exactly the day promised, after I had asked for a slightly deferred date because of a holiday. I was able to track online the parcel's progress from Shanghai to Hong Kong, to Dubai, to Koln, to Castle Donington, to Luton, to here. I did have to pay £10.25 import VAT plus UPS's "brokerage charge" of £11 (helpful Ping had marked the consignment as commercial samples with a value of $80 or it would undoubtedly have been more).

After charging it up I have just taken it for an initial ride. 26 miles on almost all throttle alone (for testing purposes) and still nearly always on the green light, with just a few odd dips into the amber. Considering that Ping say that the battery will not reach its full capacity until after 3 to 5 charging cycles, and until then I should only expect 80-90% capacity, I am hopeful of a very good range, especially when I start contributing more pedal assistance again.

The appearance of the battery was a little disconcerting at first, despite having seen the pictures online; wires coming out in all directions, and the BMS sellotaped to one side! However the proof of the puddding... I have been impressed by Li Ping's prompt replies to my queries before ordering, by the prompt delivery (very well packaged, by the way), and by the performance so far. And I guess that in a way the rather ramshackle look may act as a bit of a deterrent to potential thieves; a seemingly random assemblage of bits and pieces in my top pannier may not seem particularly nickable!

I have the same battery. I love it to bits. I can now do my 30 mile round trip commute without putting in any effort. I used to pedal very hard to conserve battery power and use between 2 and 6 aH, now I use about 10aH and go a bit faster - averaging about 16mph - and feeling a little bit guilty about being lazy. Worth every penny.

Think it's the weather d8veh my amp usage has gone up. Mainly because the weather is getting worse and it's becoming more of a chore.

I've only read good things about pings so let's hope your another happy customer

What sort of range can you get from yours - or maybe you have never run it right down?

As I said, I'm using about 10aH for very lazy pedalling (no effort at all) for 30 miles. I haven't been on a long enough ridr to run it down yet, but I reckon it would give about 50 miles like that, but if you pedaled like you do on a 250w bike, it should give 60 to 100 miles easy. Whatever range anybody gets from their normal 10aH battery, you can double it plus add about 10%.

I always say that statements about range are fairly meaningless because it depends how hard you pedal. You can get a range as far as you want by turning down the motor power, but I hope what I said above gives some idea of what people can expect.

I have just got 49 miles from a full charge, with a moderate to heavy use of the throttle. Ping has said that it ought to be another 10-20% once the battery is "run in" (3-5 charges), so I'm assuming around up to 55 miles should I ever need that much in one day (unlikely!).

Not to shabby then and using up about 13 watts per mile (Based on your est mileage) which is a pretty good average for most pedelecs.

Now have fun and it should last @ least 3 years at that capacity as long as its used.

I have just done a second full discharge after about 300 miles (12 or so recharges?) and this time got 47 miles from the battery with "normal" pedalling. So Li Ping's prediction that the range would increase after a few charges did not come to pass. Never mind; that range is more than adequate for me. And today I was battling quite strong winds.

What is the time scale Roger for delivery of the Ping battery. I have ordered two 36v 20ah for my new build's and wondered how long they would take to arrive. Ping said lead time 7 days which I assume is for him sending them.

It is too big to go in the original battery position, and sits on the rear carrier (in a top pannier).

Mine took 2 weeks, one to build and one to get here (as described above), exactly on the day quoted.

Who was the carrier used? I usually find it is DHL that adds the charges.
