September 18, 201312 yr New SIMBB (Super Integrated Motorized Bottom Bracket) mid drive system by Optibike : ebikes
September 18, 201312 yr Hmmm, looks like just another crank drive until you realise the battery is in there too.
September 18, 201312 yr Hmmm, looks like just another crank drive until you realise the battery is in there too. Bargain at $4 grand:rolleyes:
September 18, 201312 yr ... if they'd only do something about the aesthetics too ... looks like a right 'pulled out the back of the garage' job.
September 18, 201312 yr Bargain at $4 grand:rolleyes: Well for us Yorkies that does NOT constitute a bargain at $4K ! Of course if you live in them thar hills you probably need to splash the cash in order to get anywhere on an eBike!

September 18, 201312 yr I think it looks great and a step forward to a fully integrated setup, and maybe in five to ten years all bikes will be manufactured this way. Edited September 18, 201312 yr by jazper53
September 18, 201312 yr Strangely no mention of this in the Optibike website. Someone else using their name?
September 18, 201312 yr Strangely no mention of this in the Optibike website. Someone else using their name? I think they have a policy of only putting bike that are actually for sale on the website.
September 19, 201312 yr Yes, looks like a prototype at the moment. Should be interesting if it makes it to production.
September 19, 201312 yr Hi its a fake there is no battery on the red bike in the photo Frank I was thinking the same, there certainly isn't room for a 36v/15ah one as quoted.
September 19, 201312 yr I think they have a policy of only putting bike that are actually for sale on the website. A coy American company? That's a first!
September 19, 201312 yr Hi its a fake there is no battery on the red bike in the photo Frank Maybe your right, as there seem to be zero info on bike other than a couple of pictures, and a expensive price tag, one to be wary of, rather than to be in awe of. or maybe the battery fits on, or in the handlebars ? September 19, 201312 yr Author More optibike posts on the same site overview for optibike And further information on their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Optibike?hc_location=timeline Edited September 19, 201312 yr by oigoi
September 19, 201312 yr So a genuine Optibike prototype, but still no sign of a battery for it in the photo of the couple together with two Optibike models.
September 19, 201312 yr Author If you have a read of their post and photos on facebook from their visit to interbike they are saying the battery is in the bottom bracket assembly and is 36V 13AH and the bike weighs 30lbs. Quite amazing if true
September 19, 201312 yr I've emailed them to see if they want to tell us more or join in here.. wait and see!

Quite amazing if true Thats the way I read it too, but it just doesn't look as if there's enough volume in the BB casing to squeeze in all that capacity. Also the weight seems too low
September 19, 201312 yr ^^ exactly my thoughts. If there is a magic way of reducing the volume of a near-500Wh battery to something that'll fit into 1/3 of the space everyone else's is taking up, and at half the weight or thereabouts, then let's all know what it is !
September 19, 201312 yr I have read it, but my point too concerns that 36 volt 13 Ah within the same crank casing! It seems highly unlikely for a realistic capacity rating.
