just returned from southend tried a santana low assist not a lot of difference but med and high pleasantly surprised also tried without assist manageable on the flat hattie and andy very nice people no hard sell am now on waiting list for new stock beginning may
Yes - setting1 seems to give very little power, I hardly use it unless I have a gale behind me.. Suggest you use 3 most of the time, unless it's very hilly or windy. You'll get some exercise but no sweat, which is what it's all about. I go for max 5 for hills. Done 26 miles this afternoon in almost calm conditions - fantastic ride!.
Also be aware when changing gear with the crank drive. This is how I do it.
1) stop pedalling
2) change gear
3) apply brake sufficiently to prevent motor starting up and gears changing at same time (bad idea)
4) Start pedalling with brake on and wait till gears change
5) release brake
6) Woosh up the hill!
another tip - keep an eye on your chain wear.
