Hi Everybody
My name is Ian and I live on the Cheshire / Shropshire border.
I have now retired and after spending most of my working life travelling from A to B as fast as possible and doing the reverse each evening, I had decided that I want to enjoy what is on my dooorstep (beautiful countryside, quite country lanes and an abundance of canal tow paths).
So 2 months ago I retrived my old mountain bike from the raffters of the garage (bought over 18 years ago and only used about 5 times, too busy working) and have started cycling just under 6 miles each morning before breakfast. What a joy.
However, I would like to cycle further afield, but have realised that the further you go, the further you have to travel back. So to help lighten the load on my old worn out knees, I have been considering and ebike.
Have looked and tested a few. Ideally would like a folding bike so that I could take it on the bus (making use of bus pass) and then cycling back home, from wherever the bus takes me.
Tested the "Volt Metro" and was very impressed with the ride, so I think that will be my first choice, unless anybody else can recommed an alternative.
What I would also like is a simple lightweight carry bag for the folding bike but have been unable to locate one on the internet. Any suggestions?
I'll keep you all informed on how I get on.

Welcome to the forum jasper( Ian )....lovely area you live in and Im envious of all your canal tow paths !

You will quickly become totally hooked on the sheer freedom of Ebikes, as you have found out, the temptation to go further and further is hard to resist but will be made oh so much easier with an Ebike.

There are lots of members on here with folding bikes and Im sure some will be along soon with suggestions of bikes to try....and try you must, as what feels great to one person doesnt necessarily feel the same to another.
Anyway, have fun and dont forget some stories of your rides out, with pics too, if possible , will be avidly read by many of us on here :)

Lynda :)

Welcome to the forum Ian.
You'd be most welcome to come over to New Mills and have a good ride on any of our bikes. We're not far from you.

A lot of Brompton folding bike owners use the Dimpa bag from Ikea.

Nor sure if it will fit the bike you fancy, but worth a look.

Incidentally, if you have a good budget, the Brompton is the best folder money can buy, and you can get neat conversion for it.

The Electric Wheel Company will supply a bike ready fitted with the conversion:
