Not bad pricing on the current eZee batteries. The 20 Ah battery capacity of 740 Wh at £595 compares vert well with a major competitor's very large battery, which a lot smaller at 624 Wh costs £695.

That's eZee 80 pence per Wh, competitor £1.11 per Wh, 39% dearer.

We have supplied an Optibike rider who is participating in the London to Paris charity ride with 3 x 10Ah eZee batteries for auxillary power, but he will be using them one at a time to extend his daily range.
Was this Paul, the rider who ended up completing the ride on a Kalkhoff Agattu C11 Premium Impulse he borrowed from us because the Optibike melted/broke down? :p;)

Yes Tim,

It was Paul. His Optibike had been sick up for a while, nothing to do with the batteries we supplied btw;)

I did offer to lend him my demo bike, but he must have been desperate and you were on his door step:p;)

Hi John

One off our bike just finished a charity ride His bike is 1 year old in everyday use

Her is the event

SEESA cycle 240 miles for charity

A team of 12 cyclists and 2 support people will be embarking on a gruelling 240 miles journey from the Stokenchurch office to the Eden Project in Cornwall. They will start on Saturday 21st April, with the aim of covering 60 miles per day… while most people would then enjoy the comfort of a hotel and bed after such an exhausting day, these individuals will be sitting round a camp fire and sleeping in tents.

Why you ask….
· To raise awareness of Sustainability
· To raise awareness of Health and Wellbeing
· To raise £3,000 for our chosen Charity
· And to finally tour the Eden Project and brainstorm on how we can improve our own sustainability within SEESA

Comments on the performance off the bike

Boys

For info - scroll down..

The bike had it's most gruelling road-test ever last week; 250 miles of roads and muddy towpaths in storm conditions, persistent rain, hail stones, long climbs (often 1 in 4), averaging 65 miles on a single charge each day for 4 days.

No punctures (thanks to Dutchperfect) just a knackered pedal and new front brake pads. Oh and I think the chainrings are on their way out and the freewheel wants changing again.

Interestingly the electrics were the most reliable part of the set up despite the awful weather. All credit to you.

Cheers!

Thanks Frank

Perhaps they would be better described as less than or far from perfect:eek:

I feel sure Flecc will fill you in;)

Somewhat baffled, maybe no punctures due to perfect Dutch cyclepath/road conditions? Perhaps their nails don't have points.

Don't forget to add the VAT and import duty if you decide to buy.
Buyers should also consider warranty.

Do you have a specific partnership with Ezee? I've seen all your battery are "Ezee" branded. I know this is somehow the name of your company but I'm quite surprised by the type of battery you are selling.

Why don't you try to buy in large quantity the cheap A123 cells/packs from China, reconstruct them and sell them with margin?

Hi cwah,

I would just like to clarify that Cyclezee are UK distributors for the eZee Kinetics Technology Co. Ltd.

Cyclezee do not construct batteries.

Lol, sorry.

I always had the impression you are an individual company and then quite independant.

My mistake

Hi again cwah,

I think further clarification is required, Cyclezee is an independant UK registered company, not owned or subsidised by eZee.

Our current stategy is to concentrate on one brand which we know and trust.

At the same time If you our anyone can manufacture high quality reliable proven batteries in the UK at a competetive price, then we would be interested in marketing them.

In reality, I don't expect to be inundated with offers.

hehe, unfortunately I don't know any battery manufacturer in UK at competitive price. Maybe the lipo from HobbyKing but it's not for common customers.

I was thinking that because you go to china, you can also check about that at the same time. Battery is the most expensive part of the bike. Too sad there isn't any affordable offer for most people.

My 1200Wh battery was purchased in china because of the very high cost of battery as soon as you want a bigger pack.

Hi cwah,

I do not make frequent trips to China and I would only buy from a trusted supplier like eZee;)

I have recently purchased a 20ah VP battery from John. The Torq1 I bought it for has needed some work by my LBS but I should get it back Saturday. I intend to post on it's performance but have high hopes. The original batteries back in 2007 were frankly cr@p, but all the subsequent offerings (phyllions, lipolys etc) have all been good. IMO if a battery can cope with the peak demand of a Torq1, then that's a good endorsement. Frankly, I think the conditioning cycles may be a bit much!

Hi Nick,

You won't be disappointed with the 20Ah battery, the range is very impressive. It will easily cope with the demand of your classic Torq 1.

When in Shanghai, I rode a one of the latest eZee bikes with the more powerful Mk2 motor, it just kept going and going and going.

I agree conditioning is a drag and obviously the larger the capacity, the longer it will take, but it is worth it to get the best from the battery;)
