New Build BBSHD, is this a bad idea?

So my 1st build, just wondering if the cable management i have used. I.E tucking the extra cable under the motor protector as seen in the pics is a good or bad idea?

Only thing i was worried about is it might get to hot, but searching on line (suggesting it does not get super hot) and after a half hour maiden voyage, the motor was hardly warm to the touch.

So not sure that will be a problem, is there anything else I am overlooking doing this? I am sure i heard it may not be good to coil power cables as it can produce more heat?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

ps wow this thing is mad lol ;-)

Edit: just noticed the pics are a bit blurry, if better quality ones will help let me know and i will retake some but i think you can get the idea.

In respect of the extra cable, personally I usually cut the power cable to the bare minimum length and re-terminate with new connectors. The motor to display umbilical also I cut to suit bike, rejoin solder and shrink wrap. It makes for a cleaner looker bike.
I don't like bunches of cables, I think if there is any possibility of snagging on something it will do one day. Its called the "FU Factor"

Not sure about the sump guard style motor protector, I would say that anything that hinders the flow of air over the motor is not a good idea. If you have to leave it, maybe but some ventilation holes in it!

You say it is not hot to touch, could still be hotter than normal internally due to restricted air flow/ heat radiation over the motors fins.

Not gospel, just my view!

Hi,
Thanks for your views m8, food for thought!

I certainly have plans to get the "bunch" of cables into something protective, so it is not a "bunch" of cables as such.

My main concern was heat and having looked around these motors do not get that hot, i only have a 48v and ride in London so no major hill riding etc. tbh honest after riding for a good few hours today i doubt i will use more than PAS 3 (in the 9 setting mode)

I all so found this
guys are manufacturing ebikes with BSSHD fully enclosed in metal and with the cables tucked in against the motor which is what i was worried about.

so i guess if they are making a selling BSSHD enabled bikes it should not be a major concern!

I know cutting the cables is not a super skilled job and i have fiddled around with soldering etc, just it is a lot of moneys worth of kit to start chopping up which is putting me off, that and i really dont wanna **** with the battery cables!

I will check some Yt vids to see if i feel confident enough.

Thanks again for your view!
