Finding my (electric) wheels

Hello!

I'm building up a trike for my daughter. I got a Leaf bike kit, 20" front wheel hub, I had everything hooked up and the wheel turned great with the throttle. I needed to get a different PAS for her BB. THe kit comes with an 8 magnet PAS. I ordered a 24 magnet PAS.
I tried it and couldn't get it to work.

I found the KT-LCD3 manual and changed the PAS sensor setting to a higher number hoping it would register more magnets.
But now, nothing works! The throttle doesn't work. Original PAS won't work.

Battery is full. And the wheel will turn in "walk mode", but nothing else. The brake isn't on either.
Please help! Did I accidentally change a setting in the Parameters that would stop everything from working???

Thanks!

Never seen a 24 pole disc, the KT's work best with 8 or 10 pole discs. 12 poles can be a bit troublesome any more they won't register.

For parameters you need to list the P & C settings for us to look at.
One shouldn't make too many changes without knowing how they affect the bike.

For that one you have to set C1 to 05, 06 or 07 to work.
With that PAS you have to make sure that it isn't pinched tight between the crank arm and BB face, the outer body should remain still in use and the inner needs to freely rotate when the cranks turn.

Thank you for the info! Is there a setting in the display that would cause the throttle and PAS tos top working but the "walk speed" works?

Not both together, throttle and PAS are independent of each other. Maybe you have made some changes which don't suit.
As aked for list P & C parameters for us to look at.
For independent throttle make sure P4 value is 0 & C4 is 0.

Which PAS are you using?
Did you check all 4 orientations/directions?
Did you check that it's pulsing?

You probably have the wrong connection sequence if it's not the one that came with the kit. Pull back the heatshrink and check.

When you've done that, measure the voltage between the black and the not-red wire while you rotate it to see if it's pulsing.

It's got black, yellow, and brown. I don't get any reading from it.

Confirm that you have 5v between black and brown, then check for pulsing between black and yellow. If no 5v, your controller isn't switched on.

What colours are on the other side of the connector?

The controller side is Black, Green, Red.

The controlle works with the other PAS I have. 8 pole. but I can't mount that PAS on my frame/BB. It's a special trike for my daughter so not a typical frame.

Does it connect red to brown black to black and yellow to green? What were the results of those voltage tests?

looks to connect
PAS to Controller
yellow to black
black to green
brown to red

connecting black and brown gives a reading of 3.47 at static, nothing changes when rotating the pas

I was just saying that's how it is from the factory. the two plugs, without changing anything line up like that.

You have to change them! The guy that made the PAS had no idea what controller you were going to use, so how would he know which positions to put the wires?
