new bottle battery has arrived from germany but how to store

hi all have vita uno/kudos with lim10.4ah bottle battery,the battery is not giving quite the range it used too so ordered a bottle battery from Germany battery mounting plate +charger which I am glad to say arrived yesterday.

however although the batteries look very similar .the base of original battery mount has on /off switch on side and two lugs on which the battery sits, the new one has switch underneath and a 4 pin female lead to red /black bullet conecters.

so the new battery cannot be used with original mounting, but my original battery is not as fully worn out so will continue to use for the time being.

pressing the battery button on the new one all lights are lit , do I fully charge or what as the battery may not be used for some weeks/months? so how to safely store please.

the charger mains lead has 2 pins one end three female the other and is not fused,(my original lead is kettle type ) so will need to source another lead mains into charger.

but do not know what the lead might be called will pop into maplins tomorrow

Just give it a short top up charge, say 30 minutes to see if it charges ok and doesn't need to be returned. Then charge at least once every two months, though monthly won't harm it.

There are recommendations for storing at 20 or 30% charge, but that really is only a benefit if the battery is stored at near to zero degrees C. Fully charging gives the benefit that the cells will get properly balanced each time, rather than being unbalanced if the charge is cut short.

That's good then. Just charge every other month now and that will top up the bit that the BMS has used meanwhile, and keep the battery cells balanced and in good working condition.
