As in the title, is it possible to add a throttle to a brand-new > £3000 Bosch e-bike? My daft mate bought his wife a new e-bike when her old one bit the dust, but it doesn't have a throttle like her old one and she hates it.
Silly bugger should have asked me.

I don't think it's possible.

It's sort of possible, but I don't think it's possible for normal dealers to do it. You need higher level access in their software to reprogram the walk assist button to a much higher speed. I've seen it done, so I know it works, but it's not something anybody can do unless you know the right people.

How do you turn theoretically a walk assist (pressing a button) into a throttle (analog control) though?

Not 100% illegal. The dog's breakfast that is the current legislation has yet to be tested in the courts. The regulators have made interpretation so difficult that those responsible for enforcement cannot do their job as so much is open to different interpretations of the present legislation. Until such time as it has been tested by the UK courts, there will be continuing arguments on this and other forums.
It is not up to you to attempt to tell others to what they should and should not respond, we are all adults here and entitled to ask anything we like within reason. If you don't like it, fair enough, just don't attempt to shut down a harmless discourse, we do not need your censorship here.

This is a forum all views are valid if YOU don't accept others "views and opinions" then tough, now free speech we welcome in the UK is censorship, spoken like a true American LOL

It is not a black and white picture Saracen. Certain types of throttles are legal. Full throttle can be made legal too if you are ready to make an effort to legalize it (or pay somebody to do it).
Full throttle is very useful and is increasing safety.

You condone illegalities than
It's not illegal for you to stop replying to such comments. You said that we, which includes you, should stop doing it, so go ahead and stop. Why are you still responding? It doesn't make sense if you think you should stop.

If someone wants a throttle them so be it and they can have one, it's not the end of the world and tbh no one will be stopped that often if at all.
If a certain topic irks you simply don't reply rather then sounding like a stuck needle on a record, no one cares about your views or whinging.

Would this forum be able to pay the bills and survive without the hits/footfall ad revenue produced by 'de-restrict', 'throttle' or 'go faster' threads which probably make up a lot of the visits ?
Imagine car mod forums where you couldn't talk about windscreen tints, loud exhausts, letter spaced number plates, ect...boring say the yoofs...bye bye forum

Back to the question, depends on which Bosch, but a PerformanceLine upwards in Turbo is such little pedal effort and such an intuitive way to control the bike there is an outside chance she might grow to like it!

Failing that I'd be happy to take it away, no charge.

On the Mirider the "boost" button will move the bike at 16mph and all you have to do is turn the pedals very slowly to keep it going at maximum speed.
This is fully legal.

What's the safety difference between that, and a throttle.

The lovely Roz, once she makes up her mind, she doesn't change it, and there is no budging her.
Me too I'd have it, but I really doubt it, my mate Vaughan may be a daft sod, but he's not that daft!

lol l meant a hand throttle on a 250w ebike, rather than having to turn the pedals very slowly.
