That's quite a good looking bike and comes in different frame sizes.

Nice looking bike...shame they evade stating the weight of it-which makes me think it's just as heavy as they've always been.
Yeah, you're not wrong. What a crock of s**t

" How much does this bike weigh? It’s a common question, and rightly so. But the truth is, there are no industry standards for claiming bike weights—and this leads to a lot of misinformation. Variances exist based on size, frame material, finish and hardware. And as bikes get lighter, these differences become more critical. At Giant, we believe the only way to truly know the weight of any particular bike is to find out for yourself at your local retailer "

yes it could easily be standardised if they just gave weight of say a medium, then you will know a Large a bit more, small a bit less, cant hardly be much difference anyway as wheel size/components etc... identical

its £2000 without shopping around...

That's a shame, maybe the 'industry' could come up with a little list of example weights.

Like... This bike will have a kerb side weight of between X kg and Y kg depending upon customers specification.

Maybe

They don't need a standard, they just need to make the bike, stick it on a set of scales and tell us the truth about the weight.

not sure if direct drive or not.
It will almost certainly be a direct drive motor. It looks vaguely like the SwissDrive motor again, and may be a variant with different spoke mountings on the hub. Giant do get makers to produce variants, for example three variants of the Sanyo front hub motor previously, mainly unique to Giant.

Totally agree. There is no way I'm going to seek out a Giant dealer, visit them and weigh it myself. Their statement is totally dismissive of their potential customers. It's a "you wouldn't understand statement". Same goes for all suppliers who refuse to publish weights.

That said. It looks good.......shame about the marketing cr..

Their policy does seem perverse, but Giant's main e-bike market is in northern mainland Europe where they compete successfully with many other heavy utility bikes and e-bikes. They also make unpowered tough utility bikes that can rival some e-bikes for weight, but their quality is always high and among the best of Oriental production.

I've previously noticed their complacency in other e-bike areas and I doubt they are too bothered about an enthusiast e-bike sector which asks about weight. However, they are still the world's largest bike manufacturer and seem to have no difficulty in maintaining that position, so can afford to be smug!
