Im actually looking at folders at the moment too, for my car.

Your 805fe David.........it says on your website that its a rear motor, but it looks to me like its a front motor ?

Could you clarify this and also the weight of the bike without battery ?

Lynda :)

Hi Lynda, you are absolutely correct, well spotted and thanks, the motor is in the front wheel so the bike is better balanced, so important on a folding bike. ;)

I have contacted my webmaster who will make the change today. I must have read that at least 100 times an never noticed!!

The weight of the 805fe is 19.6kg plus battery which weighs 2.4kg.

Best regards

David :)

Hmmmm......interesting.......do you mean all the parts will be made in Germany...or still in China and the bikes just assembled there ?

You dont mean we are going to lose the Wisper name do you ??

Hi Linda

The Wisper name and style is solid, not going anywhere, we are simply moving production to Germany, our bikes will be built at the same factory as makes the Grace bikes, hence the connection.

Some components will still come from China, and we will continue to use the Japanese Dapu system. Many other components will now be sourced in Europe and instead of being painted, the frames will be powder coated in Germany for a tougher finish than even before.

The move to Germany is a part of our plan for growth over the next few years. We have taken on a new Director, a German national who has massive experience in both the electric bike and bicycle markets, he is currently spearheading our sales efforts on the continent of Europe and is doing extremely well. Dick Lai and our Chinese staff are setting up sales and distribution in Asia, there is a lot of demand in China for European products.

I realise it all seems a little topsy turvy, sending coals to Newcastle, but as you know we have always done things a little differently at Wisper!

All the best

David :)

That's good news David, I hope the venture gets all the success it richly deserves.

One thing's certain at least, you'll still get called Whisper, Wispa, Whipsa and other variants! :D

Thanks Flecc!

It has been a challenging time, the move has been very time consuming and nothing like as easy as we had imagined. We have a lot of tools in China, and although they are all fully paid for, getting some of them moved has been unbelievably hard.

I am sure it will be worth it, it will be such a novelty to order bikes in September for delivery in February and getting them before the summer!

All the best

David

Regarding the name Flecc,

In the early days when I decided to call the company and the bikes Wisper, nearly 8 years ago, I always had a mind on the German market. The name Wisper is actually more well known in Germany, being a small quiet and very pretty river and valley. Wisper - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We are hoping to put Visper on the map for a second time in Germany!

All the best

David

P.S. I have decided to come out of the closet and posted the press release as a separate thread.

Hi again
We have been looking , testing, frequently changing our minds BUT now after a proper test at ON-BIKE have decided to buy 2 bikes .....
AVE MH7 , Wisper 806 Alpino ex demo
Absolutely concur with Eddieo the MH7 is superb in all respects (except the seat) such a responsive fun bike that although not a true folder will fit into our motorhome without removing parts
We have tested loads of bikes recently some good/bad at a variety of different dealers

Other strong contenders included the Kalkhoff Sahel Compact - which is a really nice sturdy well equipped 20" wheeled bike with hub gears it had the Impulse drive which on my brief test drive didn't have the same verve as the Bosch

KTM Cross - An excellent bike with the Bosch drive but I would have to remove the wheel as a minimum to get into the m/h.

All in all these will be our second set of pedelecs and am thrilled at the prospect of both , the Wisper will be our first hub drive and it will be interesting over the years to see how each perform out on the road and in terms of maintenance requirements.

Nice one Gordon!

might be putting my last remaining Dahon on as well as to many bikes!

Glad you share our enthusiasm for the AVE MH7 did you do any hill climbing? it is unusual and the best (for now) of these 20 inch semi-folders. Still not happy with gear shifting on 10 speed SLX but will get mate to have a look for me...

we fitted the highly recommended on here Specialized expedition seat which is sprung and very comfortable but ugly! Probably all it really needs. But I had already ordered the cane creek thudbuster ST which transforms the ride..may even try with original seat and put specialized seat on other bike....

A nice light powerful niche bike, perfect for storing in motorhome. Still prefer full size bikes though but this is easy to use and pure fun....

I nearly went for the Alpino and really like it but the AVE more comfortable. so you have an excellent pair of bikes for the van....

Hi Eddie

A fairly brief test which included uphill stretch of about 1 in 6 for about 800 metres - it flew up in about 5th gear with max. assistance . The gearchange was far from what I expected - very smooth not notchy at all , I have read about your Thudbuster conversion but in the short experience yesterday on not brilliant tracks I dont know if I would need it .
