Price alone is certainly a killer for me as are existing new cars, I have yet ever to own a new car. The newest being 3 years old when I bought my first turbo engined car in the mid 80's.
The batteries have already come down considerably in price.battery prices will come down like in this graph (take it with a suitable pinch of salt, but the rough shape is ok):
Price in US$, per kWH for e-cars. The leap (2014-2015) is when Li-S batteries replace Li-Ion in extended batteries. When that happens, you'd be mad to buy a new car with IC motor.
