I generally work on a 50% of the rating as absolute maximum usage on a 250w motor with SLA, less is better for longevity.
This all depends on the ah capacity of the batteries in relation to power drain due to peukert effect and build quality.
Recharge as soon as you can.

The other option if you are into DIY is to build your own pack from hobbyking.com and get the appropriate charger.
Or maybe mod a pre built bmsbattery.com or Home-Elifebike Online Store --- Electric Bicycle Parts battery kit to suit.
I have dealt with Hobbyking but not the other 2.
With Hobbyking I can put together a 10 ah 24 v 25c LiPo pack (1.5 kg) with charger for under $150 au including shipping.

Hi Bob,

Do you have a 24v battery as a separate unit?

Hi Mike
Perhaps one of our batteries might suit you? We can supply with a base plate and slider.
36V 10AH LiPo for £225
36V 16AH LiFePo4 for £425

Or perhaps one of our bikes...
