When I bought my ebike conversion kit the seller said I should budget for needing a new battery in some years' time and I would need about £1K to buy a new 36v battery.

I've seen some on eBay for more like £200.

Can I just buy the eBay battery and take my chance or is there something magical (super high aH?) with the batteries the high street seller is flogging?

thanks

they will custom make a pack for you and you can pick what cells you want in there as well.

most cells from china are fake and have no where near the capacity stated on them.

Tesla Panasonic have a new 2170 cell but will be a while till we see those in bike batts and are double the best 18650 cells we have atm ;)

Maybe they meant over the lifetime of the bike. If you were to keep it for 15 years, then that may well be true. If they meant for one battery, then they were talking out of their a**e.

Soundwave's suggestion is sensible, as you will know what you are getting by letting BGA-Reworking recell the pack.

It might help to show us what you already have! Some batteries can only be replaced with originals that cosy £1000.

How long ago did you buy the gear, prices have fallen. A new bike with battery can be had for £550 ic you want a cyclomatic.
A good basic bike for £1,000 and for £2k you can get a top grade bike.
