Hi everyone, Iam new to this and in need of some advice!
I have been offered a 36v claud butler sport glide 2 electric bike for £350 - the seller is saying the battery is still OK and won't need a new one anytime soon, it as the key and charger and the frame looks in good condition, I haven't test rode it yet though! I've been told by someone else that the batteries are really hard to replace and if an equivalent is used it will need new wiring too! Is this true? Or can a equivalent be bought fairly easy. Thanks in advance for any replies

It has standard Chinese electrics, so you can use any battery you want when the original one expires. I'd chuck that monstrosity and get a downtube battery , which would give much better handling. It's not a bad bike apart from the crappy rim brakes. if the motor has the 6 screws for a disc, I'd upgrade to a front hydraulic brake set. you can get used on ebay for about£30.

Thanks for the reply, I'm unsure how old the bike is, the seller said its about 2 years old but he's only had it a few months but never ridden it in the few months due to health reasons, I was just looking to buy as it is really without having to change things around on it, is it worth 350 do you think
Thanks again for the reply

You can tell if a bike hasn't been used much by the marks on the pedals and cranks. A high mileage bike has a lot of paint/lacquer worn of the pedal arms. How clean the chain is, also is a good indicator, and so is the wear on the tyres, but note that some crappy tyres last for ever, but when you look at both tyres, your common sense will tell you how much it's been used.

If it's in nice condition, £350 is a fair price.
