Need advice: long range battery for Ezee kit motor

Hi – I have been using the Ezee kit (EU) on my recumbent trike for half a year now with the 10 Ah battery that came with it. However, I am riding 30 kms each direction and need to charge the battery at my destination, which sucks, because it means I have to carry a charger with me and I need to plead for the use of a power outlet when I visit customers.

So besides the obvious advice of stretching the charge through judicious use of gears etc., I need to find out if there is some other kind of battery that could extend – if possible double my effective range without doubling the weight.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Christian,

You could have a dual battery setup on your trike i.e. a second eZee 10Ah FP LiPo battery wired in parallel.



This would add 3.35 Kg. which is relatively light for a 10Ah battery.

We have them in stock complete with soft carry bag.

I would have suggested a second battery, but then of course that WOULD double the weight which you dont want so......silly idea ....

Thank for the tip, John, I'll consider it, but its not mypreferred solution. Would I need to change the wiring and is that difficult?

Hi Christian,

Without a second or larger capacity battery and consequently increased weight, I don't say a way of achieving what you want.

From your previous posts it looks like you have a FP (flat pack) eZee battery which will have Anderson connectors. With a second FP battery you would need to have or fabricate a 'Y' type splitter to run the batteries in parallel (see below), the best and most convenient solution.




Alternatively, you could just carry the second battery and connect it when the first is exhausted.
