Yes, you just put the very small hex key in and make it as tight as you dare. There's two nipples: one for each cable.

whatever problem someone on the forum reports, I seem to have already had it myself the week before. I guess I'm just lucky!

One thing to note with Harmony system, we had a bike which was not performing as expected, just required a simple software update. Also we have had great feedback from people who have tried this system. (There is a mini usb on the harmony system).

Have to say I think we are still looking for holy grail: good test track and great footfall but the two never seem to go together, or very rarely!

Trying bikes on trade day was much simpler as the queues were not very long, therefore did not have the problems others had. Although test track was far from ideal but in a flat venue you will always struggle. Test track at Eurobike was not much better hill wise but was longer, I imagine demo day would have been good though.

D8veh....am always concerned when a customer supposedly rejects a bike and then suggests that everything is wonderful when they go to 50 cycles and buy a Kalkhoff, especially when that posting comes from a new member with only 2 postings!!!
I must say that the very succesfull London Electric Bike Company in Kingston is finding that whilst the Kalkhoff product is very capable many customers are reporting it as safe but staid and that at that price point KTM and Haibike offer a more exciting alternative, also its nice to sell bikes which are fully UK legal.
Martin....I think the auto Nuvinci Harmony system may be just too early to sell, with new product its often better to let the technology to settle down, maybe next year, also do we want our bikes to be fully auto-it may take away some of the spirit of bike riding? However the Nuvinci 360 system is possibly the only current transmission system that can take the power of leg+motor power when attached to any of the powerful crank motors.

Your continued sniping at 50cycles/Kalkhoff is making you look extremely unprofressional. I test rode many bikes, including one of yours, before buying a Kalkhoff. I had already done a lot of research through old forum posts, and had already come to the conclusion that you're not the sort of person i would ever buy anything from, despite quite liking the bike! This was before you started targetting owners, which really makes you, as a competitor, look very foolish.

There are some identical postings on No1foxy's "Introduce Yourself" thread where he goes on to provide detail regarding the precise frame number, date of purchase and supplier of the KTM concerned !

Couldn't help but find his post (or the response it got) humorous for a number of reasons ... the sparkly pink bike pimping angle did make me have an initial chin stroke though, rather than anything written about the bikes - but then girls will be girls I guess !

The Endeavour is a very nice bike and must admit I'd likely choose it over a KTM or Nuvinci bike any day. It's the only one of the current UK-import Kalkhoff range that I'd go for though, to be honest.

I met Kudos Dave at the Manifold do and thought how I could buy from him, but didn't like the bike.

He used critisise the Stork Radar and having ridden one can understand his reasoning.

After trying a few Kalkhoff bikes I expected more than they delivered based on what owners had said. Nothing about them said "Buy me". No doubt my bike would not suit a lot on here but I think it best that I had tried by a long way.

I noticed they had a Storck Raddar Multitask at the NEC test track. I didn't try it because I've tried one before. Those that did try it reported more torque than the previous version. I did, however, have a long look at it, and I noticed the eccentric adjustable bottom bracket, which I'm sure some people will find useful, but it seemed overkill considering that the crank was a square taper one. I was thinking that it would have been better to spend the money on a nice Hollowtech one. Can someone tell me the point of the eccentric BB in case I need one?

Ah, I just checked out their website, which shows a Hollowtech FC M 590, so maybe that was an old model with a software update or something. Confusing! I should've asked while I had the chance. Lots of people were trying it.

I am genuinely about to purchase a batch of KTM Macina Nuvinci bikes so was concerned to hear about a problem a customer had with one. The story about this bike is somewhat confused but it appears the core problem was a Bosch motor which was not correctly greased, the electric transport shop of Cambridge tried to sort the problem by exchanging for another motor to help the customer, which caused more problems than it cured and in the end they decided to refund the guy.
The problem was a problem with a batch of Bosch motors rather than exclusively the KTM Nuvinci product which has already sold well in the UK.
I am happy to continue buying the KTM Nuvinci bike.

You are entitled to your opinion and I am very respectful of that. But you must also respect that 50 cycles have somewhat a history on this forum. I also think the forum has become somewhat stale of late,I miss old Eddieo with his knowledgable but aggressive postings, its all become a bit PC of late.
Perhaps we need more postings such as the 'Kudos Arriba is the best value bike currently on sale in the UK',that should stimulate some interesting postings....see new thread.

^^ true but it's also been the case that new members posting about having bought a Kalkhoff bike with positive reports are put through the Spanish Inquisition on suspicion of being a plant, set-up or wind-up.

When I read that post by No1foxy I was just waiting for the interrogation to begin !

If you want to see more interesting postings Dave, try something more riveting than your new thread, maybe news/pics of a nice cycle ride you have been on lately,or a trip to a foreign bike show or a bit of the old politics/funny jokes/or even just a bit of gossip in the Charging Post.

I dont think the forum has become stale.....more polite maybe, but then, I never was a fan of aggression on a forum.
I find it quite sad to see that a certain aggressive member saw fit to try to rejoin recently, under a different name, just to stir things up again......not exactly what we are looking for is it.....the phrase 'get a life' springs to mind....

When d8veh, andrew, john and I were talking at the NEC we were just remarking on how nice it is that this forum isnt just a faceless place, lots of us have met up and become friends through the various bike meetings , like your own Redbridge, Alistairs Bristol and previously through the late lamented Presteigne (sob ) for example and this is great for the community and e-bike business as a whole.

The forum is only as good as its members and their varied postings.......vary yours a bit more and we could really get stimulating the old brain cells.

I remember some excellent postings of yours about finance, taxation etc.....ok ok....maybe not everyones cup of tea....but varied none the less.

Take a look on the Vaping (e-cigs) thread, now that really has turned into a stimulating and diverse area of the forum.

BTW......I miss 'old dave'......where has he gone I wonder........hope he comes back soon.

Lynda :)

Lynda, good to meet up with you at the NEC show,I must say your new life in Northumberland is clearly good for you. The number of new ebike suppliers chasing the business has meant that most of us have to keep our new cards a bit closer to our chest these days.
There was so much of interest to forum members at the Eurobike show but most of it affects our 2014 models so reluctantly I cannot talk much about it. The technology is moving so fast that a new model has a limited life so it is necessary to make the most of it whilst it is in vogue.
My Arriba posting was 'tongue in cheek',I am sure you and John appreciated that.
This government said they were going to restrict red tape but of late it is getting worse and I must say taking a lot of the fun out of running a business, how anybody starts a business these days-it must be an uphill struggle, its all very tiresome.
But I take on board your comments and will make an effort to bring back info and anecdotes on my next trips.
Dave

Does anyone remember the two tier VAT system we had when it was first introduced?

Perhaps we could start a campaign for it's reinstatement for lower rates for Green products that help the well being of the user to enable help with product take up.

I can not see how the current 20% rate helps promote all things Green although I still hear Politicians constantly expounding their views on the Green subject.
