Frightened myself a couple of days ago...

Three parts through a thirty-odd mile ride, let the bike have its head down the old coach road from Taphouse to Respryn bridge - about 450' descent in 2 minutes:
Got up to 38mph when I decided to ease my seat & turned the cranks 180deg.
Bad move - the bike got into a speed wobble & one was saying one's prayers:
Managed to ease on the brakes & scrub some velocity & stayed on, but it was most unpleasant for a few seconds.

Although my Trek Mamba is a brilliant trekking bike, it's a tad twitchy at times, due to the G2 jommetry, so I'm told.

According to the LCD speedo, I got to 37.2mph yesterday - on three separate occasions. On one, I'm sure I then went faster, but it didn't changeo_O

I think you've got too much weight too far back. Is there any way to shift something forward? Also, you can try pumping up your rear tyre to rock-hard (5 bar)

You're right - I've been thinking the same, but there's not enough room for a flatpack battery in the triangle.
I carry a hefty d-lock on the downtube & a toolkit up front, but it's not enough.
I can get the front tyre off the road all too easy with injudicious helpings of power.

It's a special badge, the brown shorts of speed. Only given to those who push the boundaries beyond their comfort zone.

Sod that!
Just rotating the cranks 180 deg set it off; and I can't pedal quick enough to get much above 30mph, anyway

It's been a long time coming!!! :)

Given the terrain, the average speed wasn't bad either. :)

The Haibike performed well today, sport mode for the outward journey, turbo for the return, over half of battery duration still left, and an external motor temperature of 31.6 ºC

My knees are already regretting the pace though. :(
