Quite frankly, I'm dismayed that the other thread seems to have been removed from the forum. There was no offensive content in there, no swearing, no ranting. Being able to read about peoples problems with their bikes and suppliers is very important when deciding what bike to buy. It was reading about people's problems with the 24-spoke wheels that steered me away from the ProConnect and over to the Agattu - With hindsight, I'm extremely glad that I made that choice - particularly given the very poor response from 50Cycles on this issue.

If others are unable to read about the parts shortage for 24-spoke rims, then they may unexpectedly buy a second-hand model with worn rims and find themselves caught-out with a large bill for new wheels.

Scott said:
Yourself working in the Police force and getting the bike on the Cycle to work scheme at £1495 does not warrant you claiming that you ordered the bike at £1700, in actual fact through the scheme it would equate to about £1000. Which is a lot of money and would warrant a complaint if you was left with a bike with no wheels but we endeavour to keep customers on the road by whatever means, which will take flexibility on both sides sometimes. We have given everything to ease the situation where you have done nothing to compromise. To use this forum has a tool has a consumerist website is simply not on and not in the spirit of this forum. I have asked Russell to remove this thread because it is factually incorrect since day one. I have personally been through every post and there are 53 infactual statements.
:(
Does this mean you are renting the bike from the finance company? That means they are jointly liable unless your company is doing the financing.
Poor show on giving out your details but now it's public knowledge I can plaster it everywhere. :)

Removal of thread

Hi all,

I have temporarily moved the thread to a secure area while I take legal advice on the content, the outcome of which may involve removal of certain parts of it. At this stage I cannot say any more so please bear with us.

Smoke and Mirrors........

I answered 50cycles offensive post last night at work. what a disgraceful shower they are showing themselves to be! ]

Not happy with censuring debate on their own forum they have now managed to do the same on here!

FOR SHAME 50 cycles

FOR SHAME pedelec for bending to an advertisers will.

I am thoroughly disgusted and will have to consider if I will continue using this site.......is there an alternative someone could point me in the direction of please?

Have just seen the above from Russ...But will let this stand.............

P.S. Well done Tillson! your tenacity is admirable, I am sure you have the support of all on here!

I find this situation very disturbing.

I have been following the discussion for some time now and hopefully we will see a favourable outcome.

I am also a concerned Pro Connect owner.

The censored thread was valuable for its clarity and detail.

Its removal shows the defensiveness of 50cycles and diminishes pedelecs.co.uk.

Just briefly to support Russ. who has plainly stated that the thread has been temporarily removed pending scrutiny. It is unfair to expect him to do otherwise given the situation and unfair to criticise at this stage.

Russ is responsible (in law) for everything published here. He therefore has to think more thoroughly and more clearly than others.

Tillson, I support you entirely.

Please support Russ and the forum regardless of whatever decision he makes.

I also support the view of Django and Tilson above. Apart from anything else, the temporary removal of the thread has removed the improper disclosure of Tilson's personal information, so is for the benefit of a forum member where that issue is concerned.

Hopefully if the thread re-appears that personal information will be excised.

i think you have treated very unfairly over an expensive item that should be repaired .. free of charge...
As for the personal imformation being disclosed, that in itself should be a legal issue and i am pretty sure they could be prosecuted if you went down that line.
Good luck,i hope everything is resolved asap.

Transplanting my internal gears into a 36 spoke hub casing with a free rim and spokes has never been offered or discussed at any time. This is the first time that I have heard of this offer and it sounds like a viable option and one that on the face of it I am willing to take up. Would you like me to telephone you to discuss this or would it be better if I wrote to you or visited in person? This IS a possible solution.
I assume this was offered from the start, it's the obvious solution, one we have used before on various hub-geared models over the years, involving minimal cost and inconvenience for all involved.

Proof as if it were needed that a public forum is often not the best arena to fix technical problems - much better to work things out sensibly offline or in person. There are a few here all-too-ready to throw mud from the sidelines.

We've been engaged in a titanic wrestle to sort this out for over a month now and the solution has always been there, what a palava.

I wasn’t aware of this solution until I read about it today. Hopefully, and I can see no reason why not, this will provide me and the other 24 spoke Pro Connect Owners with a cost effective route to a maintainable wheel standard.

A far as I am now concerned, 50 Cycles have potentially resolved this issue for me.

It is not my intention re-enter a war of words.

Thank you.

Tom

edit: I have just spoken to Scott on the telephone about this. I believe it is a fair solution.

Glad to hear you have found an equitable solution guys. Will the hub have to take Anti rejection drugs for the rest of its life following the transplant :D :D

As an agreement has been reached, I don't see the need to drag this out any further. The thread will now be closed.
