Hi all

My e-bike got stolen out of my shed last night.

If anyone sees it can you please let me know? It was stolen in South-East London.

My email address richardson.lee147@gmail.com

I am insured but i wont get the full value of the bike but i should hopefully get £1500.

Any suggestions on a replacement, I might replace with a scooter but i'd prefer another e-bike?

Thanks.
Lee

They unplugged it from the charger that is still in the shed and just took the bike with the battery still attached to it.

Really not happy!

Bit late now but garden sheds aren't really the place to store high value items.

I had a friend who stored all his RC heli gear in the shed and was worried about theft, so he fitted steel bars, big clasp locks etc.

He came home one day to find thieves had removed the roof!

next time..leave it outside by all means but locked to something secure, just as you would do when out and about..but please keep battery and charger in doors and saddle/seat post, a lot more unattractive then and only takes a minute........Must be gutted:(

GUMTREE the home of stolen bikes in the capital and country wide.....

I keep mine indoors and I have an alarmed garage....next time. get a piece of U shaped rebar (steel bar for concreting) get a plastic box and fill with concrete with U shaped bar in it and lock bike to that....

Really sorry to hear this. Absolutely gutting. Whereabouts in the country are you ?

There was a spate of thefts up in Gloucestershire a few months ago mainly off-road and DH bikes. In most cases the common factor is that people had been riding at a particular popular spot the day of the thefts. Thieves had followed people home to see where they lived and gone in to steal from sheds (and in one case broke the house door down taking nothing but the bike). Some highly unusual bikes taken too - likely stealing to order.

Just can't get over how low it is nicking peoples' bikes. I've looked on Gumtree for 2nd hand bikes .. tempted just to shun it completely, the amount of times you see it associated with stolen property.

Was a couple of years ago, bike locked to solid object in common area.
Bastards must have been following me.

20 minutes later, £400 rockshox forks unbolted and gone. Nothing else taken just the forks.

Sickening feeling.

From now on, I assume that any onlooker is a thieving hound. Forks can now not be removed with common tools.

Really do hope you find yours, we're all keeping watch. There will only be on bike like that out there.

Hi Lee,

Firstly I am very sorry to hear about the theft of your bike.

I don't know if you have already done so, but it may be worth reporting the theft to the MET's Cycle Task Force.

I know of a case where they did catch a thief who tried to sell a stolen electric Brompton on eBay. The thief was prosecuted and the bike returned to it's rightful owner.

The thief made a mistake when he left the charger..he's gonna be looking for one.
...It's probably a daft idea but could you get another member to advertise a charger for sale on ebay ?

Thanks everyone for your words of wisdom.

The MET Cycle Task Force phoned me up today. Hopefully they will find my bike but i'm not holding my breath.

We shall see.
