Motor noise

Featured Replies

I realise this is very subjective, as a newish ebiker 5 months, how loud should a 250w motor be? Full power full assist. Yes probably a stupid question, taking for it’s first service and just curious. Thanks
This varies massively on motors , workload and even frame design can make two identical motors sound very different .

You can easily get noise from maladjusted gears that would increase with power (yours or motors) put in, and misinterpret it as noise from the motor. If that's so the initial service should fix it. Common for adjustments to go out a little on a new bike, which is why they often offer the early service.

What sort of bike/motor?

Should be no noisier then any other, they can become noisy if grease is lacking on the planetary gears or if a bearing starts to wear then the noise can resonate quite a lot.

If it is an electrical clicky noise then it resonates via the controller and can be bad phase connection contacts or a bad motor connection so check it wear it is joined from the hub axle.
