Motor / Battery connectors don’t match

Hi all, come to nearly the end of my Tongsheng conversion and wondering if the solution here is simply to cut the terminals off each and join the wires together?

Those look like battery wires.

The connector on the left is an EC5 and you would need to get the matching other half which is easy to find on eBay.

You could cut off the connectors and solder the wires together, but I would not myself, your making it very difficult to permanetly remove the power\battery from a circuit.

I find XT60 connectors easier to wire.

It's no problem to solder the wires. In fact it's better than using connectors. That's assuming that you have a removable battery and not some un-switched home-made one. I always solder my battery wires for reliability and performance reasons.

Soldering is best. I wouldn't advise screw type because the copper will oxidise over time and cuse problems.

Soldering is easy enough. Get at least a medium sized iron 60w absolute minimum. strip back the wires bout 5mm and flatten the conductors a bit, then heat up with the iron while you feed in the solder until you have a nearly blob of solder in it. repeat for the other side. It helps to melt some solder onto the iron's tip first to aid with heat conduction. Thread on your heatsink. I like to use two pieces for battery leads. make sure that the second piece is big enough to go over the first one after the first is shrunk. Push the heatshrink up the wire out the way because the wire will get hot. Place one end over the other and press them together with the iron. Wait until the solderder has melted and fused into a single blob. Check by eye that it's nicely fused before sliding over the first heatshring and shrinking it with the shaft of the iron if you don't have a heat gun. repeat for the second sleeve. Job done!

@vfr400 Is spot on. Always solder wherever you can. Depending on the size of the wires use a hot iron about 290-350deg C. Use a small file or sandpaper on the iron tip to begin and have a small wet sponge handy to clean the tip as you go. Then tin the ends with solder as he said - that enables a good flow. It takes practice, but it really isn't hard. Don't be frightened to try it.
The important thing is to ensure both wires are properly tinned at the right temperature. If the joint looks dull and with lots of miniature cracks you will eventually have a "dry" joint. Cut the wires off and do it again. The end result should look nice and shiny.

DO NOT permanently connect the battery!!!! Use a cradle.

many thanks - chickened out of the soldering - maybe for another time used some connector blocks inside cradle instead - seems to be ok
