Flecc I wonder if this should encourage us to recyle parts more, i.e. the permanent magnets in motors ?

That's a good point Jerry, there's no facility to that at present, but perhaps there should be.

Loudspeaker manufacturers are also heavily affected by these increases, particularly those in the quality speaker field where huge top quality magnets are used, so there are recycling possibilities there too.

I've no idea of the technical recovery potential of the expensive proportion for reuse though.

Regardless of cause or solution in this climate the price of e-bikes must now be holding them back. Unfortunately i think A2b is just the first of many, it would be such a shame if e-bikes fade away and end up in the history books as a nearly there technology.

Old news?

Methinks they are talking up to promote a Christmas sales rush.

From the latest charts the price trend is going down.

Perphaps we should not believe all we read?

Metal-Pages - Neodymium prices
A Xmas rush on e-bikes! I don't think so, winter isn't a good time to promote sales surges on any bikes, other than kiddies ones.

The graphs don't represent the real situation. As the article mentioned, shortage of supply is the issue, and the earlier peaks probably reflected the rush to secure what was needed. It will be those more expensive bought in stocks which will be pushing motor prices up, and the drop seen recently is probably just reflecting the reduced demand following that buying rush. We'll probably see the graphs leap again in spring or even earlier as buying resumes.

Its not winter all over the globe.
I thought supply and demand dictated prices.
Prices appear currently to be falling and I would not presume to hazard a guess of the future trends.
