Seems that military surplus might be a good cheap way of getting goretex over trousers

Anyone got any experience here ?

Thanks

I have a pair, and they certainly do the job! However, the fabric is quite stiff and heavy should you wish to pedal much, and there is no access to pockets - the wearer is expected to have a full set of webbing, pouches, etc., to carry small kit. I also have a Gore-tex smock, the best waterproof jacket ever, but as it is in camo colours I am very wary of using it in poor light conditions on my bike, preferring bright fluoro nylon.

Surplus military gear is good value , bought 2 ex -police service riot suits, which are gore-tex , dont use them on the bike ,tho' I have ridden in it to go to the boatyard to work on my boat, for which I purchased them for originally, have the added bonus of Kevlar patches for elbows & knees, plus they are fire resistant for the princely sum of £25, would make a great foul weather suit for commuting motor cyclist.
