Hi folks.. So I am after a bit of advice. Or pointing in the direction of the correct thread..

I am converting a genesis latitude steel mtb into a pedelec for lugging cargo back from my local town. Possibly with a trailer but I may use panniers.

I'm looking for advice on the most efficient combination of battery, motor etc.. I live in asturias which is super hilly (think Devon coastal on steriods). I'm not worried about legalities as most of my journey is on tracks and what is on road is extremely rural.. I weigh about 78kgs and I would guess the bike and cargo would add another 20-25. The distance to town and back is a 30 mile round trip but I would probably also use the bike as an adventure tourer so would like to push the distance further..essentially it's main purpose is as a work horse...more torque less speed

Been reading here about different set ups and am completely confused, lol. I beleive a 250w motor is going to be underpowered for the Job but will running a bigger motor just eat the battery? Does a 750w bafang dialled down to 500w with a high capacity battery make sense?

All advice would be much appreciated.. Ta

I have tried the bbs02 750watt and while its great if you want brute power the current consumption[20/25 amps] is still higher than expected, on lower levels of assist due to the fact it pushes out more than the rated IMG_20190802_180519309_HDR.jpg750watts [1100peak in short bursts] and with a higher top speed
The tsdz2 750watt is more forgiving on the battery as it draws far less current as it only provides assist in a ratio of the effort you provide as you pedal, the bafang will provide full assist is given even if you ghost pedal
The tsdz2 still has plenty of power/torque and it gives a longer range but is only drawing 13/15 +amps but has a lower top speed

I've very recently just fitted the Tongsheng TSDZ2 to my Giant AnyRoad, Only managed to squeeze in a few miles so far as the weather has been shocking but there was plenty of power to propel me up a couple of 8-15% climbs and push me to ~25mph on the flat. So far an excellent bit of kit, I bought mine from Woosh Bikes who are active on here and Tony was very helpful.

Nice looking bike... I'm in two minds as to convert my croix de fer cycle x or my latitude mountain bike...
