Following on from this thread http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/7663-milton-keynes-e-bike-ride-sunday.html, I propose that we join in with the local CTC group for their ride on 6th March, more details here MK CTC shorter rides.

I have ridden with them several times They are friendly bunch, ride a variety of bikes and stop for refreshment occasionally.

PIC017.jpg

It is not a race or competition, so any electric bike and rider capable of 20 to 25 miles should not have problem.

Please ensure that your bike is roadworthy paying particular attention to tyres, brakes, chains and don't forget to fully charge your battery beforehand.

My car with carrier will be parked near to the start/finish point, so in an emergency I can rescue up to 2 bikes and return them to the start finish point.

The ride starts from here, Elizabeth Square Bandstand in Bletchley Start & Finish Point of 6th March Bike Ride - Google Maps at 10 am, but I will be there from 9.30

Remember, you don't have to be a member of the Pedelec Forum (If you are reading this, why would you not be a member:confused: ), or have an electric bike.........yet;) Just be there!

I contacted Rich Forrest, CTC ride leader today as a courtesy and asked if he would be OK with a bunch of electric bikers going along for the ride.
His reply was "I have no trouble with that at all, the more the merrier, See you on the 6th"

It is worth coming along just to meet Rich and hear of his exploits as an Audax rider on his Bacchetta recumbent:eek:

Anyone coming from outside the area might like to combine the trip with a visit to Bletchley Park when we get back. It is well worth a visit and less than a mile from the end of of the ride. Bletchley Park

Bletchley Park could be the ideal place to decode the frequent Chinese-to-English eBike manuals! ;)

Seriously, although i wont be attending due to the distance, such meetings help cement friendship and understanding from core forum posters, so the more the merrier, and it would be greatly helped by a "meets/events" sub-forum.

Sorry you can't make it Streethawk. The Meets/Events is a great idea and I have suggested it to Russell Scott, perhaps it should be "sticky" so there is some level control?

Many thanks Russ for your speedy response, and credit to Streethawk too for his suggestion.
Hopefully there will be a lot more contributions here and as many as possible can get together in our own areas.

Regards,

Just a reminder that it is only a week until this ride, so time to make plans if you would like to come along.
I will be there rain or shine, but I expect we will have blue skies and 20 degrees:D

It would be good if those coming would post on this thread, just to give a rough idea of numbers. I am hoping for a good turnout if for no other reason than to prove Bankie wrong. He thinks it will only be the 2 of us on electric bikes.

Start Time - meet 9am for a 9.30 start

Route to be determined but will be circa 20 miles with a cafe stop middway.

Just to make your special offer clear: Are you saying that if five grandparents all turn up on electric bikes together, they each get a free battery?

Careful!

122 years old is known, and the number of people currently over 100 years old in Britain has now passed 10,000.

With a pension at 60 it's possible for all involved to be under 100 years old!!

On 'er and off 'er.......there's a little story about that which some readers may remember.

I may have missed it in the fine detail but I can't recall seeing the battery specification mentioned. My guess is it'll be a AAA or maybe one of those watch-type batteries one can buy on a card from the pound shops, (dozens of them!)

There are some offers one really can refuse!........Giant bicycles have a great need of new talent in their marketing department so you may be headhunted Aldby?

Indalo

BEBA All Charged Up and Somewhere to Go day will take place in London on 18th June, gathering at Parliament Square in the morning and crossing Southwark Bridge taking in a number of sites before stopping at Regents Park for the Taste of London outdoor food fair where you can re-charge your bellies. The ride is open to everyone with an electric bike.

Itinerary

Gather at Parliament Square in the morning (Time TBA) and commence a trip along the river in an easterly direction.

Cross Southwark Bridge to take in Tate Modern and onto Boris' HQ.

Cross back over Tower Bridge and go to the Spitalfields Festival.

From there an exploration of a bit of the cool sides of East London.

A visit to Netil Market where the Bicycle Library now resides and a half way point charge up!

Then onto the canals and riding to Regents Park for Taste of London a big outdoor food fair for lunch.

From there through the shopping district of Bond Street and to the river for drinks on board a boat with a bar, across from The houses of Parliament, where those that drove can be re united with their vehicles...

A couple of suggestions if I may, open the event to any cyclist, not just electric and ride naked. These two things will raise interest in electric bikes considerably.
