Could someone explain how to measure one's head for an off the shelf helmet please.
I've heard ill fitting helmets are just as bad as wearing no helmet.

Or is it worth going to an LBS to get measured up?

As Old dave says, after that there will be enough adjustment on it for + or - a centimtre or two

We stock Ked helmets. We have the Opus (Size 52-58cm) in white/black on offer at £29. Helmet also has a light on the back and they are made in Germany.

Had to giggle, sorry. :)

Proviz do a nice range of helmets with 3 red flashing LEDs on the back too.... and they come from Jersey :p The Saturn has a flashing front to boot. I've got a Triton (not that I ever wear it much ) - it would look great with lycra - but then I don't usually go out in that either lol.

Photo probably does not do it justice. However like bikes very much personal choice and there are certainly plenty to choose from! You suprise me no lycra, wiz down the hills even faster lol.

Fordulike they are so last year . Didn`t you know that we are all on Lidl or Aldi Snowboard helmets now ? I bet even Lynda has got one by now . If you do get that Avanti you might be mistaken for a Lycra lout !

At the end of my 22 mile ride on my Batribike Folder this afternoon, I found a slight downside of these fancy Snowboard helmets .I called into a Co-op Petrol Station to buy 4 pints of milk and the Assistant asked me if I was paying for fuel . I had kept my helmet on as I was a bit cold with the temperature at 5C. When on my Motorcycle I normally remove my helmet for fuel and to pay , as some demand that you do . I should get that Harley badge for my jacket and start swaggering a bit !

NO....Lynda hasnt and Lynda never will.....apart from never wearing anything whilst cycling......I still have visions of all the old ancient lemon/olive pickers on their mopeds in Spain wearing helmets just like that....I mean...perleeease....I do have an image to keep up :D

And if you dont watch yourself, next time you try to buy milk you might find yourself tackled to the ground as a potential service station mugger :p

It would serve you right for wearing such a monstrosity......and I will LAUGH...but then, I can be very evil at times ;) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lynda :)
