Lost power

We have a Cyclotricity Sahara. This has a front wheel motor and the battery on the pannier rack. Yesterday the pannier rack came loose and slipped down the mudguard. This put tension on the cable / controller enclosure on the battery. We managed on the roadside to put it back together to a fashion to get home.

However, when looking at it today, we found that a screw had pierced one the cables. I’ve cut this back and rejoined the wire.

Although everything looks OK and the battery is fully charged, the LED controller flashes one LED which means low battery, but there is no power to the motor.

Any suggestions as to what to look at next. D12C5DA4-2893-440C-B0CE-F0AB266A6117.jpeg6DB1632D-4CD1-4B5A-B40A-B44C60BA63D4.jpegA9D4457A-98F0-4B12-8896-57F08432F0CC.jpeg

Where you cut the cable, what colour wires are there? How many wires actually had damage and what colours were they? AFAICS, you've repaired the red one, which is battery voltage. If the thing that cut into it also touched another conductor, a lot of damage can be done.

Was it working after the rack came loose until your attempted repair of the wire?

In the very worst case, a new KT controller with LCD will cost around £70 and is easy to get hold of.

The Red wire was severed and the Blue wire had a nick in it, so they may have touched.
I had the original controller, as this was supplied damaged, so they sent a replacement. I swapped that over and still the same.

Red and blue are connected together when you switch on, so no harm can come from shorting them. In fact, shorting them may be a temporary solution for your problem.

My guess is that a wire has been pulled off the display unit. You didn't answer my questions, so I can't help you further.

Sorry, I called the display unit the controller. As advised, both the display units, one on the bike and old one when reconnected display the same problem, in that the first LED flashes as in showing a low Battery.
