Looking for replacement battery coyote edge 24v 8fun

Looking for a replacement battery for my e-bike so I can sell it
I have the original bottle style 24 volt 8.8 amp hour battery that isn't charging and see many similar batteries on eBay between £120-£180
Problem is my battery has 5 ports and the eBay ones have 4.
I know these eBay ones will be cheap and quality but at least I could sell the bike in working order with the new battery
I fear the cost of rebuilding mine would be too much
I noticed that 3 wires go to the 8fun motor from the docking port
Any help finding an affordable battery replacement would be appreciated cheers

Hi Batteries and their cradles/bases/slides are generally a package and come in a bundle as one.

And its the number of connections/wires that leave the battery assembly and connect to the bikes control system that are important.

In the best case scenario its just a thick red and black wire pair that connect your battery to its control system in which case any battery of the correct voltage etc that will fit within your bikes frame will work, as the battery and its dradle/base/slide will come as a package and you can replace the whole thing easily.

If however you have more actiual wires/connections from the battery to the control system then your bike may employ some 'smart' coms to limit your options to dealer/manufacturer only options prima facia.


However if for selling it may just be easier to be honest about the current battery state as when looking at 2nd use bikes my base assumption was the batteries probably needed replacing anyway..

That bike and motor would be a good platform to upgrade into a pretty good ebike.

As it stands, it's worth about £200 to someone that knows how to upgrade. It's useless to anybody else. £300 for a new battery , controller and hydraulic disc brakes get's you a nice bike for £500. What's more, the 24v motor would give some serious speed at 48v if someone wanted an illegal fast commuter that looked like a legal bike.

I fix a lot of bikes for people but mostly work on vintage and classic bikes not electric. A customer donated this as he was moving house so now I'm wondering what to do with it. Didn't know I could use a higher voltage battery that's interesting . What else would I need to upgrade? The controller I'm guessing?. Thanks for all your information

Yes, you need a controller and battery. 36v will give it 50% more power than it had and would be pretty good for most people. If you want plenty of power for hill-climbing, get a 20 amp controller. 48v doubles the speed and power. I wouldn't go any higher than around 17 amps. That only works if you want to cruise at a relatively high speed - say over 20 mph because it will have low efficiency at anything below 15 mph.

You could also get a throttle. It might abe necessary to get a a speed sensor too if your motor doesn't have one and you want to use an LCD with speed display. Obviously, if it already has an LCD, it must have a speed sensor. You should always buy the controller and LCD as a pair to avoid compatibility issues.
