Looking for commuter bike for myself and wife

One I tried at Dundee had the walking pace button on controller, are these standard on eu bikes(German Dutch)

For my height been looking at ktm, kalkhoff and riesse muller charger. Not bad getting list down to three eh?
Wondered if worth splashing out(even more) on nuvinci rather than alfine?
Also looks like 2014 kalkhoff have new Bosch performance crank drives, or that me wishful thinking?

I have nothing useful to add to the thread, other than to say that the Croix de fer is pretty much my all time favourite bike.
