Looking for advice regarding motor and controller

Hi. Just sold my carrera vengeance electric and bought boardman Pro FS which I want to convert to electric. I was happy from carrera 250w motor(controller was 6amp-18amp peak so more like 500w) performance but speed limit couldn't be removed...
So I'm lokking for hub motor that's light and would give similar performance to the one in carrera vengeance but without speed limit( need to archive around 40kph).
The battery will be 48v 13amp and the wheel size 27.5

Even without speed limit 40km/h come on, 250w hubs are good but be a bit more realistic.
Set your sights on 20 - 22mph as a max speed with a 17/18mph average more of a target.

You could try a 500w bpm/cst or Q128h 800w bung a 30a controller with them and 30mph is possible but your battery, oh your poor battery .

And just for Fogo, yes op has posted in wrong section . Although kit bike this isn't the S-ped section.

Initially i was looking for 1000w ebay kit but after some reading these dont have good reviews and i dont really need so many watts and weight.
so would someone advise on 250w-500w geared hub /controller combo with 27.5 wheel?

The Boardman needs a cassette motor, which unfortunately rules out the Woosh kit unless you want to change your gear shifting arrangement. the q128C with a KT controller and LCd is a really nice setup. you can use whatever type of 48v battery you want, but be aware that the 08 case type (Shark) have high up fixing points so you have to add at least one rivnut to your frame. the 09 type (Dolphin) are the most versatile when it comes to fitting. I prefer a separate controller in an aluminium box, which fits nicely in an under-saddle tool-bag.

A Q100C is another good motor, but requires more pedal power if you want to go over 20 mph.

The Yose Power kits from Amazon are a very good solution at 36v if you like to pedal and you're happy with 20 mph.

yeah looks OK, but I think that's a freewheel motor, so your cassette will not fit.
BMS are expensive on complete wheel postage and I would only ever buy the motor and build up the wheel myself. You could use your existing rim so I matches your bike, so only a set of spokes £15-20.

The website spec. for this bike claims it has a 12x142mm Bolt Through axle. If this is so it might cause you problems trying to fit a normal rear hub motor.

They are too wide for 135mm dropouts. You need a stack height of 37 mm and the only freewheels that are that height or less are 6 and 7 speed.

Does it have dropouts? If it is just a through axle it won't work.

Thanks AK, I think OP has other problems too, like 12mm through axle, an 11 speed cassette plus a motor that spins at 390 rpm.

Most hub motors are designed to fit frames with drop-outs, so won’t fit a bike with the newer through axles, at least without heavy modification. I believe there are now motors available to fit these through axles, but I’ve no idea where to get them. Perhaps someone else can help.

Both the 8 and 9 speed only have 13T top gear, which is a bit low if you have a 42T or 44T chainwheel.

I seriously looked at converting one of these. I preferred a mid drive but getting a 48v battery in the frame defeated me. The easy position in a rack above the rear wheel shifts the balance too much for my liking.

I settled for a hard tail Boardman.
