Looking for a new battery

Looks like the second hand battery I bought for the wife's bike has given up. (It was cheap, and I got 2 years out of it, so I'm happy with that).

As a result I'm in the market for a 10ah, 36v battery. Shrink wrap from BMS is about £150 delivered +VAT/DUTY.

Can anyone suggest any better (or cheaper) options?

Since VAT and duty etc might push the price to over £200, it might be less hassle to get one from Woosh or Kudos for hardly any more.

As for better, some do appear to last longer but as this factor is very system and usage dependent, it's difficult to make fair comparisons.

I don't expect VAT/duty would be much more than £40, based on previous experience.

Good point about Whoosh/Kudos - I'll make some enquiries.....

It's one of my DIY jobs, a Kona Africa bike, with a wooden battery box/kid seat on the back. KU65 driving a 24v 8fun at 36v.

Yer 'tis:

As long as I can fit it into the box, anything will do.

Mike,we are having a lot of problems shipping lithium batteries from China, air ship is now impossible,if CAA open the parcel and they seem to be opening more, the possible fines are awful....up to 20,000 euros, just the wrong labelling attracts the fines. The Chinese shippers used to think they were insulated from action but even they are now getting nervous.
We have always assumed that sea shipping (containers) were ok to ship lithium batteries but the manufacturers are now only shipping with the e-bikes not as LWL shipments.
Please understand I am not being a killjoy, because of the foregoing I don't like selling off my battery spares,so there is no ulterior motive in making this posting.
The paperwork necessary to legally and safely ship lithium must be supported by an employee training course.
All this was caused by the Boeing plane which had its batteries explode, albeit not protected by a management system.
Talk to d8veh,he's good with batteries.

Thanks Kudos Dave.
I might be able to fix this battery up, it might just be out of balance, but It's quite old so its probably toast.

I successfully purchased a battery from BMS about 6 months ago. Have things changed since then? Anyone else had problems recently?

I just bought a couple of their 48v downtube ones. They seem pretty good. Exactly as described.I've been using the one with Panasonic cells. I bought a third one from Aliexpress, with Samsung cells to compare. It's probably a bit too early to say, but I think that the BMSB one has a little more capacity and sags less. They do the same batteries in 36v.

Eclipsebikes in the Midlands do a 13ah 36v with Samsung batteries for £246 delivered, including a charger and one year guarantee, they're out of stock until mid(?) Feb though.
