LED Display Alternating Top/Bottom blinking, Bike Not Working

Hey,
I'm having an issue with my Forme Cromford 1 ELS. The LED display on the handlebars is alternating between the top and bottom rows and the bike isn't working. I've checked the connections, and the battery seems fine, but no luck so far.
Has anyone seen this before or know what this flashing pattern means? Any ideas on what else I should check or what might be causing it? Appreciate any help or direction.

Check the display for any model or id info for a google search including 'manual .pdf' to get help decoding the error state,

Due to the 1 battery led only i would guess its a low voltage error without any other info,

Check the battery voltage, and the connections in its cradle, some styles can bend making a poor contact , you should get a reading close to 42v from a fully charged healthy battery if you dont have a volt/multi meter, they are cheap and VERY useful (less than a tenner for a basic model, no expert but the anang range seem gvfm?)
If 32v or less and fully charged the battery has issues..

Firstly, it's showing very low battery level, so the battery might need charging. Next, it shows a communication failure with the controller, which is probably related to the low voltage.

There are some scenarios where that can happen, like a blown MOSFET in the controller, but in order to isolate the cause you have to test with a meter. You need to get the probes in the connection between the battery and controller to see what happens to the voltage before and after you switch on the control panel.

Why do you think your battery is OK?

What is the history of this problem? How and when did it start?

Please answer the three questions if you need further help.

Forme Cromford 1 ELS has a Bosch motor and electrical system, not the 790 display you've shown. Are you sure you have the model description correct? How old is the bike?

Thanks for all the information! Turns out I got the model wrong. After a quick search it turns out it's the Forme Buxton 2 Ladies bike. I'm not sure how old the bike is, I got it used from someone with the fault.

The lights on the battery show the full 4 lights which made me think it's OK, but I will check with a multimeter to confirm and try do the other checks as well. Thanks!

That is almost certainly a Kingmeter display.(Read old!) Best replace both display and controller with something morden. Brainpower do a reasonably priced combination with the excellent S866 LCD display for less than 50 noteworthy

1: I thought battery was ok because it shows the 4 lights when I press on the button that's on the battery. I have just checked the voltage and says 46.5

2+3: The person I got the bike from just said that it randomly started happening, I don't really have more information unfortunately

I think the bike is maybe from 2014 based on the serial number?

The information you give will point to the cause of the problem. If the control panel intermittently started doing that, the probable cause is either burnt contacts on the battery connection caused by connecting the battery when the battery is already switched on, or there's a short in the battery wires somewhere.

If a MOSFET had blown, it would have happened when going up s steep hill or something like that, and it wouldn't be intermittent.

You need a new battery in your meter. The most a 36v battery can be is 42.0v. If it is indeed 46.5v, you have the wrong battery. What voltage is written on the charger?

I've replaced the battery in my meter and it's reading 41.3v and It says 36v on the battery. The contacts on both ends look ok visually I think, but I will try to clean them

41.3v is a bit low so the battery is either not fully chargered, is unbalanced or the cells have aged and 4.13v is the max they will take.
Without opening the battery and reading all ten cell group voltages then one can't cypher the issue .

Alternatively the LED display may have become damp/wet and some tracks have fomed shorting the LED PCB .
