Big wide road, bright sunny day, I can pass the licra boys on the hills with ease, but car drivers still want to knock me off!
Why am I so invisible!

Front and back.. never without them on the road.. Keep thinking I should add it to my will.. Check the bike cams..
They could put it on my headstone.. He got it all on film!!

Don't take it personally, she/ he ,and most other drivers are just the same,feckless eijedts when it comes to recognising a vulnable persona!
It comes down to bone idleness really ,cutting blind corners, crossing on yellow lights and countless other demeanours, all to save a precious nano second.

Motorist must acknowledge that a cyclist/ predestrian ,have equal rights to the highway, us cyclist have to power, stop and balance our machines, whereas they only need to twist / push / pull a knob or lever in safety

That sort of driving was a daily occurrence when I had a motorbike and lived in the UK. My headlight was always on and one of my bikes was bright yellow .... but it made no difference. But you do pick up a sixth sense about these things and defensive riding definitely helps.

I have to say that drivers in France seem much more bike aware and friendly and I rarely have an incident or close shave these days. Mind you the roads are much emptier over here.

Contentious, but I believe pedestrians, cyclists, and horse riders have greater, rather than equal rights than motorists who need to be licensed, insured and pay a duty for the privilege before they can use the road.

I've always had a problem with 'rights'. It sounds so mandatory. When all is said and done, we probably only really have the right to breath, and try to survive.

Top are loose animals, then horse riders, simply because control is divided between a human mind and an unpredictable one, so anything could happen.

Next emergency vehicles on a priority call.

They are followed by pedestrians, then cyclists, both due to vulnerabilty.

My next one might surprise, it's public service vehicles such as buses which I always give way to. The reason is simple, they are serving the whole community, I'm just serving myself.

Following that I try to assist delivery drivers who also serve many, have a tough job, and are earning a living while I'm retired.

Only then is it my turn, but despite all those priorities I still manage to get around without any inordinate delays, showing that much of driver impatience gains little, if anything.

I agree much with your thinking Flecc, what you and me do is drive with courtesy, which seems to be a rare commodity agmonst our heathern motoring brotherhood, I find Taxi driver's the worst on the road,along with the white Vanman, for disregarding the rules, bus drivers, and HGV drivers do behave, if only because they can't just 'nip into the gap'.
Mind you if I am out with the recumbent,it seems I am given a wide berth, if only coz the drivers cannot believe what is on front of them

I found the same with my heavily loaded large trailer, drivers coming up behind often not able to even see a bike or rider and baffled as to what was ahead!
