Kudos Battery "Recovered"

I bought a Kudos King not long after Kudos started out in ebike sales. I thought it was a good spec for the price although I did swap out a couple of parts in the first year. (Certainly light years better than its troublesome Powabyke predecessor).

This year I noticed that the ends of battery casing, which are made of some quite brittle material, was breaking away. In fact, I had to re-screw the handle end on using washers so that they would still grip and keep it watertight. Although the connector end wasn't as obviously damaged, I did notice cracks appearing and was worried about water ingress, or even the end breaking away when pulling the battery off the bike.

Anyway, with not much hope of a result, I brought this problem up with the folks at Kudos and spoke to Andy Taylor there. To my pleasant surprise, he immediately sent me replacement ends (including new keys required for the connection end) at no charge . Next day delivery too - I was impressed!

So just to say that I thought this was excellent service. OK, so maybe the problem shouldn't have arisen in the first place, but full marks to Kudos for stepping up and being prepared to put it right without an argument and at no cost to me.

That was good of them, I think the problem is really having to slide it in and knowing that if its not quite in tight enough the key lock wont turn, because its out off enlightenment. I had mine break too, but now having put the battery in the centre of frame that problem has gone.
The case could do with a stronger case, or a better push fit connection.

How old is your battery now and are you still getting good milage.

You're right about having to line it up just so; I actually have to file the slot a bit wider after I'd made a slight change to the battery casing.
Re the connection, I got a friend to make a stronger push fit connection for mine and it's much better now.
Battery is in its third year. I tend to recharge after almost every trip now, so haven't done more than around 30-ish miles before recharging for a while. I might experiment some in the next few weeks and see what max I can get. I'll post back if I do.
I like your idea of moving the battery more central. My next bike will definitely have a central located battery for better overall balance. I'm too old to be a bucking bronco. :)
