Ktm are recalling some of their Panasonic batteries as they may go up in flames!
If your battery serial number starts with RA16 or RA 17 you must remove it from the bike immediatelyand fill in the form located at the link below.

I know that
"Lithium Battery, Fire Risk"
pulls all the levers for journalists and other professional panickers,
But is this really any more alarming than other recalls for cars , motor bikes etc.?

Its not "alarming" at all and ,up till now, no one has said it is.
No doubt though, some waste of space so called journo will try to whip folks into a frenzy!

This is restricted to a very very small number of bikes from 2013. All the dealers who've had bikes that are from the batch that has the potential to be effect have been notified already, and hopefully they will be contacting the customers directly already.

Just as a point of reference, according to Panasonic " Panasonic believes that there is 1 defective battery in 150,000 units."

According to our records, there are less than 10 bikes in this country with these serial numbers. So the chances of their being a problem are very very small.

However if you have a 2013 KTM eRace, eCross or eStyle P, its worth removing the battery and just checking the serial number. If its RA16 or RA17 please contact the dealer you bought the bike from.
