flippin' typo innit  :(
I missed that one. The 300 wh battery I imagine will only last 20-25 miles round here on the hills. I'm not up to rides any longer than that so it could be perfectly adequate.

I did stick one of my old training rides in the simulator and it said I'd need 13 ah to complete the ride, not that I'm up to doing it even on this bike.

I've just tested it on this route. 27 minutes outward and 30 minutes homeward. Claimed two very fit roadies on Winnats Pass, so all in all not bad at all.

The first roadie shouted "Do him" to his mate up the road as I passed him, and his mate said "I hope your battery goes flat" as this old man in a pair of jeans rode past :)

Edit: be under no illusion that you'll get up Winnats on one of these bikes if you're below average fitness, you'll be off the bike and walking. I was down to 2nd and had to honk a bit to get up.

Another local route that would be impossible for me without help.

I removed the little screw on the display unit so I could remove it as and when, however on a ride yesterday with the forks locked out it popped loose, luckily I spotted it was loose, it started rattling, so it didn't take a trip down the tarmac. I've put the screw back in now, I can't for one minute think it would be cheap to replace. The clip isn't up to the job of holding it in.

A hilly 17 miles in Turbo left me with a range of just 1 mile left, I have a feeling I'm going to be needing a bigger battery if I manage to ride further in the future,

Try using a lower power setting and lower gears for climbing.

Works quite well on my Rose/Bosch - your KTM will probably ride much the same.

The 11ah battery is not cheap, 639Euro on this link although someone may know of a cheaper supplier:

We could sell the larger battery. Happy to do our best to match other prices inclusive of delivery.

Is £500 a lot for a battery. I filled a works van up Friday, £140 may last a week if I am lucky.
Well I suppose that gives it some perspective. I need to view my new bike in a new light, at the moment it is purely for fitness and pleasure, I need to think about how I can make it earn its keep.

Well, I justify any e-bike expenses in two ways.

I replace many car journeys, particularly trips to works and back. Save around £100 in petrol every 4 weeks.

Secondly, E-biking along with regular cycling has given me a renewed into keeping fit and active. Cannot put a cost on being a little fitter than I would otherwise have been but any E-bike expense is worth it to me.

Try using a lower power setting and lower gears for climbing.
Lower power setting on hills = likely more effort. Lower gears = likely less speed.

In the end, battery performance in hilly areas was main deciding factor for Kalkhoff Agattu. Sahel uses the same. The 540Wh that comes as standard will do you easily for 36-42 miles in hilly terrain on full power mode. I pretty much figured it was actually a blooming good deal compared to many Bosch alternatives - which you wind up needing 2 batteries, cycling less, buying a bigger battery at enormous expense or not being able to use your bike's capabilities on the routes you want without worrying about running out of juice. It all has an impact once the searching's done and the button's been pressed.

It has been a huge shock to me to realise I can ride this bike a lot further than I could ever have dreamed. In my case I clearly didn't know what I wanted in battery capacity. Perhaps I was taken in by the claimed up to 145 km that KTM advertise.

I could put a bigger battery on the rack and plug it into the battery socket housing. I'm sure a few alternatives will come along in the not too distant future.
