Hi All

We are looking at getting some KTM models. Just wondered if any of your guys have ridden them and have any preferences. Otherwise we will just make decision on the specificaition and cost i.e. best value for money. For information I have posted links to their range below (note some of the information is in German).

Online main bike catalogue: KTM-Catalogue-2013
KTM E-Bikes 2013: KTM e-Bikes 2013
2013 Clothing, parts and accessories: KTM Parts

(UK RRP list is here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B35vfCMfgy1GOHl5Z1YwekpBN1U/edit?pli=1)

You can download the bike catalogue to your computer from here
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B35vfCMfgy1Gc2pGRmJkTzMwWE0
(its a very big file so there is no preview available, just keep clicking 'download anyway')

Bosch powered E Race Macina 29'er with 400Ah battery and XT gear set would be my choice (18.5 kg) Here is a 2012 with nuvinchi drive, can actually peddle at decent cadence down hill..

also interested in new KTM Panasonic hub drive the P650 but dont get why this system has a small battery especially when it looks a fair size....Swiss Flyer also have a very nice bike with this drive and they are a very cautious company and not normally an early adopter.....

Battery size is 47volt 8.8. ah which is 412wh not massive but reasonable size. Thanks for feedback Eddie. Very interested to see how it compares to swiss drive bikes e.g. Storck etc

I see quite a few of the 250w bikes run at 47v.

Does that mean they are faster than the common 250w/36v bikes made by others?

Hi David...

i have had my Machina Race 26" for a month or 2 now, and am delighted...my first thought were listed here
http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/13373-thoughts-new-ktm.html
This model fits my needs perfectly, especially after fitting guards and a pannier rack
Just why the American fashion for 29" wheels has taken hold here is an interesting phenomenon, but any online search will bring up big ???? as to the benefits.....the majority of forum members are not tree hopping downhill racers (except in their dreams), in fact most dont seem to ride un-powered for any length of time, so that throttle or pedelec assistance would mask any supposed 29" benefits.
So my vote is a for your stable to include Machina Race 26, as it does everything pretty well, especially as without the battery, it is light enough to hook onto the bike rack without a struggle

cheers barryc.

I just prefer the ride on my 28 inch specialized bike and associate 26 inch wheels with MTB's

Thanks for the comments it is great to get your views. Barry glad you are still enjoying your bike. I think there are some great new bikes coming in the not to distance future. KTM range is interesting with all the potential options BionX, Panasonic (crank and hub) and Bosch.

It would be great if UK could compete on prices across all brands but when you add an extra mouth to feed it costs more i.e Haibike though this is not always the case.

Have a great weekend, hope you get some time to enjoy your bikes, if snow does not come too soon :D
