Hi everyone

I am going to buy some KT LCD screens I am not a great lover of the small KT LCD 4 the on that looks like the latest Suntours one that seems to be poor quality for the cost of them over £100.00 !!!!

So if we go for ones that are password protected and revert back to road legal settings once switched off .

Any thought overall on the best ones and why ?

I looking at KT 3 but see they now have newer versions on the market or alibaba at least .

Cheers
Baz

If selling on, I would consider buying in a few different styles as some will prefer a minimal aesthetic over real time info display and visa versa.. And offering a selection (at real-ish cost) while costing an initial overhead could speed /ease a number of sales down the rd.. - no bike sales experience this end btw just thinking aloud.. but having a solution to a possible customer objection beats a 'thats how it is' reply ;)

Yes looking for some for builds and some to sell on e bay .

First one is for a new ex display Raleigh Array that I have stripped out the Suntours kit on bought without a battery.

I really like the bike it’s solid for a commute bike very well built .
Cracks me up though Raleigh Nottingham on the frame ( Made in Thailand on the BB )
The original Carreras where made in Vietnam I wonder why they moved to Thailand

I have a 250W Bafang hub motor thinking on KT 17amp controller I personally do not like the small lcd 4 so not sure weather to try the 3 or go to 5 or 6 as I think in settings the Bafang motor can achieve a bit more speed for off road use .

I am assuming the gears are metal in the older models and not nylon so better if one wants to use a 48v battery ?

The down tube battery is proving to be a bit of a fit problem ie HL is a bit too long to fit in the frame restriction see photo.

To overcome this I am looking at some Ali section from aluminium warehouse to make a really good strong mount .

And adding a rear rack battery too for range with potential retail sale to the delivery guys .

And the legal e throttle to 15MPH

Ahh for some reason i thought you had a shop front?? selling on ebay is a different thing entirely so ignore my 'sales insights' above.. best thing is to rely on your own aesthetic and fit what you think suits the style of the bike.. that way the overall look/feel of the bike should be consistent in style as much as possible??

I would stick to a basic kt lcd 1 or 2 if selling on so users can't change advanced settings or mess them up, use a KT lcd4 or 3 to set up the bike correctly then change and use a lcd1 or LCd 2 .

Personally I use LCD3 and remove the fixing brackets as they sit too high, I make up an aluminium bracket and fit the the lcd to the head stem and is held under the stem cap so it sit's low and flat.

End of the day it will depend on who the end user is .

Thanks Nealth.

I think LCD 3 is my first choice just going to buy 3 or 4 to start with use Two sell Two on .

I see what you mean as advanced settings are a bit complicated for the end user as I have found out and needed advice on this probably still will going forward.

That said there seems to be a lot of interest in tweaking to get that little bit more on road speed or lots more speed combined with bigger torque for off road use for those who want the freedom to choose or are willing to take the risk of having the bike seized .

Any experience with the later models 5 onwards ?

Since I started this journey on my fist purchase of an ex Display bike from my local Halfords older Vulcan with all the sort after bits missing with lots of help on here

I now find I am buying bikes to break and sell gradually it’s starting to pay but a lot of work from purchase to sales .

That said I think the market for e bikes is crowded and the Covid bubble has long burst .

And with councils using big words like sustainability to ban my balloon business from events hopefully I can find a living here before I retire to my local weatherspoons and write my book .

Yes a type of plastic but not single use they have valves like footballs , they can be used again and again .
They can be used as posters when helium gone. Or put into recycling.
The helium used in the uk for balloons is not pure so no good for medical or other use .
We always use weights so they do not escape and kill Dolphins or animals in fields the spiel used by councils to justify taking away our livelihood whilst allowing the independent mostly ethnic shops to still see plastic bags .
Do we not eat captive animals?

Donlald duck is going to drill baby drill so by product will be helium and his side kick little boy Musk is getting ready to mine space where helium is a natural element.
Helium is also produced as a by product in nuclear fission if we ever progress to this production of Energy.

I have found a suitable material to replace Mylar ballon’s that is being used in confectionery wrapping fully biodegradable and harmless to life in our oceans .

When I try to sound it out on the bods in councils or are being told not to allow our children to enjoy a balloons my approach to solve this falls on deaf ears ie a perfectly environmentally friendly prouduct believe me when I say this is huge from a business viewpoint back in the 80s Disney and others turned the humble helium balloon into a huge worldwide business.

Disney went into all the China factories and stopped dead the production of snide fake unlicensed balloons no there is clout and they done it and put fear into the factory owners.

Sadly it seems only kids who can have a balloon have passed and given in tribute without complaint from woke people who do there cause more harm than good.

People pollute not balloons , put ban on all plastics and see if any of us can afford to buy virtually anything .

When I travel in Asia it’s easy to see the massive problems in our oceans are caused by mainly plastic water bottles and microplastic not the odd ballon that is not given away as a promotion or a deliberate balloon release possibly for things like Grenfell or Southport that nobody’s dares to complain about.

Let’s all go to the fair tell your kids they are not allowed a balloon with there favourite character on sorry I am trying not to swear on line on my BD and not a balloon in site just a few pints of Leffay so far LOL

I have always been happy with lcd3 after using a 1 & 2 quite happily for many years.
Tried a 4, ok but abit small for my fingers otherwise it is tiny and descreet.
Not tried any other as find the 3 caters for all my needs,

All of the displays are much the same in basic mode settings wise.
For advanced C settings one only really needs to tinker with C1 for correct PAS activation.
C3 I simply leave as 0 or 8. C3 simply is about the the PAS level setting one see's on start up.
C5 most leave as default 10/max current , unless of course one is using a silly current rated controller well above the battery rating.
