Hey guys,

Well it's been around a month, used the bike every day, get half way to work this morning and hear a loud 'bang' and it looks like my back tyre inner tube has given up the goose.

I went over a bit of grass, which I think was disguising something sinister.

However, it's got me thinking of the best way to tackle a puncture whilst trying to get to work - I don't think this will be a regular occurance.

Anyone else had similar issues? How have you overcome? Is it worth investing in some tyre gunk to block any punctures? Keen to hear other stories.

Tube sealer will only stop small punctures.
Easiest way to be prepared and have an easy & quick fix of punctures, is to carry a spare tube.

I know they are on the pricey side, but fitting some Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres wil be the best investment you could ever make on your bike.

They are literally fit and forget tyres, and not having to deal with a puncture anytime on your travels is priceless.

Couldn't agree more, nothing worse than commuting into work, only to get a puncture , potentially arrive late, stressed out and covered in road gunk :)

I have just ordered a woosh big bear and requested that marathon plus tyres are fitted, not cheap but worth it for the peace of mind.

Third that, they're also fairly free running, quite grippy(except touring models strangely), I have them on everything, from 349 brompton to 28. Only size they don't work is 23mm 700c in which they oddly have high rolling resistance. On my brompton, after around 10k miles,it's wearing into stuffing, all without ever puncturing and with stuff embedded in it
