Here is a link to Kalkhoff and their expanded range of models for 2011 Kalkhoff : Models 2011
I don't know if they will all be available to the UK, Tim or Scott should be able to answer that one. Sad to see they have dropped the name Agattu:( although the bike lives on:cool:

The impression I got is that they will order in which model you want as long as you give a decent deposit......What I dont like is the lack of choice, only the 300 watt models in the bikes I like, whereas I would prefer the 250 watt S model and XT gears as I dont want the 11 speed alfina.

This lack of being able to spec a high end bike as you wish, is a bit frustrating..... So I am still looking at Swiss Flyer as you can more or less order what you want and if I pick it up myself in Switzerland ( I pass through every summer) I dont think it will cost that much more to be honest, will have to see when prices confirmed.

2011 looks good for e biking But most definitely some lovely new bikes from Kalkhoff, just hope they come to the UK. Wisper have a few tricks up there sleeve as well me thinks;) :D

Pro Connect S 10 :
Probably my favourite, but a bit concerned with hard ride reputation (and the number plate holder) but that is with non suspension PC not this model apparently

Well more money then sense.:p you could pull that rack of the back with bikes attached or cut though the thin aluminium fiamma rack in seconds.....At least they had the sense to remove batterys

My present camper looks a similar size, but has a rear garage so bikes out of sight.

Sneak peek at our new website

Hello, well, here's an exclusive for Pedelecs!

We've finally published details of our 2011 Kalkhoff range on our brand new website, which you can now preview at Electric Bikes | Best Electric Bicycles UK | E-bikes | 50 Cycles

We're still putting some finishing touches on accessories and you can't yet put an order through - that will wait until it moves over to Electric Bikes from 50cycles - Home of the UK's Best Electric Bicycles.

I think it's an improvement on the old site (which was mostly hand-built by me, starting in August 2003 - it's been hard to let go) - cleaner, more logical structure, less legacy stuff, greater consistency and hopefully easier to use.

There are still some changes going on in the background, like the logic behind the ebike selector, but this is how it will look. So, what do you think? Anything to add or take away? Does everything appear to work?
Thanks
Tim

i think your Kalkhoff Sahel Pro S11 Electric Bike details are wrong as it quotes 37 miles,so it either should read more or the battery isn't 18a as quoted.

The new site is looking good so far Tim, a quality website for quality bikes;)

I realise it is still a beta version and most of it is functioning, but when you click on the FIND YOUR BIKE button it doesn't seem to funtion as it should yet.

I like the idea of the Gates Carbon belt drive on the non electric Agattu model, do you think that will find it way on to powered bikes in the future?

Good spot.... 37 miles is the figure Kalkhoff give in high assistance (1:2) mode, so it's more of an 'at least' than 'up to' figure. We estimate it will be nearer 60 miles in normal assistance mode (1:1.3 for the S models).

The figures for other models are also for normal assistance mode, but it's 1:1 in those cases, hence 87 miles. In eco mode, assisted cycling for those models might exceed 100 miles. I know some of our customers have exceeded 50 miles with their 10Ah batteries.

Thanks John!
Yes, I'll be setting up the bike selector this afternoon, need to assign different bikes to each option.

Whether or not the Gates will make it onto one of their powered bikes I don't know - they'd have to redesign the drive sprocket first but after the job they've done on batteries this year I'm sure it's well within their R&D team's abilities.

Hello, well, here's an exclusive for Pedelecs!

nice site tim, and good looking range of e bikes.......
could i ask you a couple of pertinent questions

1. how to you intend to develop sales in scotland when there are no outlets up here, and no local service points. i realise there are some customers spread about who may be willing to offer a trial ride but is that really satisfactory....
2. when are big players like yourselves going to persuade potential customers to change up to a new model when they already have a relatively new (competitors) ebike....(.ie offer part exchange deals...)...the quality end of the e bike market in uk will never be huge , but consist of 'mature' customers, relatively high disposable income (ie will pay up to 2 grand for a bike !!!) but probably have a very well looked after e bike (or regular bike) already and dont want the hassle of selling first (on ebay !!) before moving to a shiny new model........

regards

Looks good. Just 2 points I have spotted that you might like to address:

1) It is not possible to select any of the step-thru models of the Pro Connect Disc.

2) There is no option to upgrade/downgrade the battery at the time of purchase. I would have thought this flexibility would be popular.

Forgot to mention - a lot of the descriptions are in German, but I expect you already know this.

A small thing but You don't seem to have the weights posted in the tech specs.

It matters because, for example, knowing the weight of my Tasman, when you say one of the bikes is light in weight, I'd like to compare it.

The site looks slick, is logical to use and very fast.

Some nice bikes there too!

Do you mean the PDF spec sheets you can download? If so I think you're right and we should remove them, they just duplicate information that is better presented, in English, on the main product pages.

We will not be offering the Pro Connect as a step thru due to the way demand has steered the market. There are so many good models in the Kalkhoff range, which makes it difficult to stock all the variables.

After 4 years of working with Kalkhoff the general pattern for us is that most people wanting a step thru opt for the Agattu and those wanting a cross bar opt for the Proconnect. So we have made that split this year.

We will have some special order items throughout the year that we can pre order on behalf of customers from our supplier if it is early enough in the season. If you really wanted a Proconnect C8 Step thru we may be able to get one for you but it will not be a product we can guarantee later into the season.
Perfectly understandable, there do seem to be a huge range of models. It is just that there is a picture of the step-thru model on the web site, but it is not selectable.
We will be offering the 18ah batteries bikes at a subsidised rate for our customers that will usually be better value than any competitors on the market.

However there will be entry level Kalkhoff models with the 8ah battery. That are already proving really popular.
Yes, but the point I was making was that someone may want to buy a particular model, but would like to change the battery at the point of purchase. For instance, I would probably be most interested in the Agattu 8, but would not really need an 18Ah battery. An option to switch to a lower capacity (and obviously cheaper) battery would be welcome.

Regarding the German language, here is the spec list for the pro Connect Disc:

Technical Specs
  • Frame E-Bike Sport, Aluminium, Zero Stack with internal cable routing
  • Forks Suntour NCX-D, Remote Lockout
  • Gears Shimano Alfine 8 speed
  • Motor Panasonic Center 250W
  • Battery 18 Ah Lithium ion with 468 Wh capacity
  • Assistance ratios Eco 1:0.5 Medium 1:1 High 1:2
  • Control console Panasonic LED
  • Handlebar Concept EX, Riser, Alu, 0S
  • Stem Concept SL adjustable
  • Seatpost Concept EX
  • Saddle Fizik Rondine
  • Handgrips Ergon® with Barends

  • Front light AXA Nano LED, mit Standlicht und Sensor
  • Rear light Basta Riff Steady, mit Standlicht
  • Pedals Aluminium with reflectors
  • Kickstand Ätran Stylo, adjustable

Lot's of German "mit", etc. in this list.

Oh yes - weight details would be helpful.

I have just noticed that the chainwheels seem to be 35T now. Is this true? The older models have a 41T.
