If the bike came without any documents or a charger, this may give you cause to suspect that it is stolen. If this is the case, it would be worth contacting the police in the area where you purchased it to see if they have any reports relating to a similar bike.

Thanks for your reply. I can be sure is not stolen. I don't want this topic digress from its original intention though. Kind regards.

Below the battery is the box housing the controller. You need to remove the battery to take a look inside the controller box.
The switch turns the battery on/off - there is a red dangling wire in the picture, you'll need to find out where it's going.

That red wire goes from the controller box to the battery. Their is a kettle type (euro) plug that plugs in to a socket on the battery.

The switch has three places L and R and middle. Thanks.

have you got a digital multimeter?
step 1: take the battery out of the bike. Try the switch until you read a voltage across the battery pins at the battery output port.
step 2: assuming you have a voltage, that proves there is some life in the battery. Now you need to re-install the battery and open the controller box. Follow the battery wires until they get to the controller. Check the voltage there. If you get nothing, there is your answer, follow the wires back to the battery output port. If you get the same voltage, then the fault is with your controller. You need to take a picture so we can see what you can buy to replace it.

No papers, No charger, brand new poster.
Many responsible shops would not touch this with a barge pole.

a five year old, non-working, steel frame foldable with 20" wheels and sla battery? I wouldn't give a castlemaine xxxx for it.
you won't have to lock it. nobody is going to steal it.
BTW, it looks like this one:

Bright Bikes GR-8

Rating: 2/5 Verdict: “Almost right, but not quite there”
gr 8 electric bike Electric Bike Buyers Guide 2014 (UK)

The motor and battery appeared to be identical to the Bliss (see below), but the GR-8 was a bigger, more rideable, folding bike. Styling-wise, it worked better than the Bliss, although there was something uncomfortable about the proportions. Weight was tolerable at 26kg, but it was a bit feeble and our test sample failed.

This and the almost identical Bliss e-bike actually have NiMh batteries Trex, but in what looks very much like an SLA case.

And yes, Willber, the rear derailleur mechanism is missing, they had them originally. It was probably used in a flat area where the gearing meant pedalling was a struggle to keep up with the motor and the lower gears not needed.
