Juicy bike

Hi,

I've been considering a Pendleton somerby electric bike but have come across juicy classic click. A bit more expensive but I like the Dutch style set up and beg type, (sciatica).
Are the juicy bikes any good? Other type I'm thinking of is the volt Kensington.

Thanks for any help choosing. I'm 12 stone, have fibromyalgia which causes a lot of pain, weakness and fatigue and am looking to replace my Pendleton somerby ( none electric), with something which will get me out and about again.

Hi, my wife has a Juicy Sport Click and she finds it copes very well with the hills around Macclesfield, she to suffers from fatigue, pain and weakness and has had no problems with it. I have ridden it a few times and found it very capable.

The Juicy bike has been around for as long as I can remember. The experience gained from the millions of miles done over all those years has been fed back into development and improvements. It uses tried and tested standard Chinese parts with a good reputation for reliability that are readily available from anywhere. What's more, the guys running Juicy (a UK family business) are the nicest people in the Ebike trade.

On the other hand, the Pendleton is relatively new, and supplied by a faceless multi-national company. I don't think there's anything wrong with the Pendleton as it uses similar proven Chinese parts, though I don't have any info on how good the battery is. I know which bike I'd buy.

I agree. I have visited the shop for juicy bikes, and the lad who helped us was lovely. Very patient!
We are on our way to Ashbourne now to look at them and ride them again

Pendleton have been around for a few years now. I know of several leisure riders with Pendleton Somerbys (non e-bike.) The OP has one.

Mrs 13 has a Pendleton Somerby e and has had it for a year. As far as I know, it wasn't a new model and the model was probably introduced in 2017.

I can't comment on how good the battery is except by our limited experience. The bike still does regular 30+ mile rides without dropping more than a bar on the battery level indicator.

Given the choice of spec v price, I'd still go for the Pendleton personally.

In reality you are probably spoilt for choice.

We have just tried the juicy classic click and he Artemis neomouv from juicy and they re both so amazing at hills and comfy too.
My Pendleton somerby is fab so I'm going to try the e version, thanks for letting me know.
Though the Artemis has led display, a cute front light and bell, the handles are really comfy and I dont feel shaken about after riding it down the canal path.

Whilst I have to take issue with some of what you say about Juicy I will pass your kind comments on to the folk that really matter.

We are a UK company with our base in the Peak District, partners Neomouv in France with whom we share an assembly plant in Portugal where parts sourced from all corners of the world are brought together by the team you see in the picture above.
That's the longest sentence I've written in a long time.
Sarah and I started the business 11 years ago from a tiny shop in Buxton called Eco-Republic which specialised in "eco lifestyle" items of which electric bikes were part of a fairly eclectic and diverse range of products.
That's us in a nutshell.

I have just joined this forum ( in the last 5 mins )and immediately saw your post regarding the Pendleton Ebike. This bike is partly my reason for being here on this site in the first place.
My wife and I have always been very keen local riders never wanting to use the car and using our bus passes wherever possible. In March this year my wife unbeknown to me had decided to buy the Pendleton ebike from our local Halfords to allow us to go further afield as she had always maintained that she didn't do hills. It is extremely similar to her Raleigh step through that I bought 11 yrs when she retired at 60. She loves that bike to bits and now with this new bike she is thrilled. So happy. She leaves me standing literally on my touring bike.
So I am now thinking of an Ebike because I do find slopes are getting harder and having had a massive spinal cancer a few years ago which has left my lower back very vulnerable to pain I think this will be the answer.
I have always thought Ebikes were a great invention and now it might be time to join the club

Hi! I am so glad your wife loves her Pendleton. They are reduced again, at the moment, I think, so a good time to buy?
I am still pondering about which to get. I love the neomouv Artemis sold by juicy bikes. I tested it and it sailed up the hills, was so comfortable, had a fab display to say how far and fast we had gone, but is quite a bit more than the Pendleton. I have a non electric Pendleton, in mind green and adore it. I need to test ride one really and dont know why I haven't! I think your post is going to spur me onto give it a try. I have chronic ill health and have sciatica too which h has left my right leg permanently numb and weak, so riding a conventional bike is a tow. I love the freedom the electric bikes give and would definitely recommend it to put a smile on our faces again!
What colour did your wife get please? I'm thinking navy! Its all important the colour ha ha!

Just picked your reply. My wife’s Pendleton is white and blue mudguards and very fine it looks too.
Oh yes being a member of Cycling Uk as I am I receive a 10% discount at Halfords so it actually cost a mere £650 after the shop discount that they were offering at the time. She tells me she bought the in January this yr.
Regarding performance of the battery........she wasn’t using it all day by any means but even after some very long Pembroke hills last week at the end of the day less than a quarter of the power was consumed. I thought that was very good.
Anyway there you have it.
I hope you will be happy with whatever choice you make.

I decided I adore the Artemis, it cuts through hills like a hot knife through butter but is quite a bit more than I could afford, in the end.
I'm really happy with my own Pendleton, have had two actually. So will love it, I'm sure.
Hope you have fun on one as well! I didnt read your reply about the extra money off, or I'd have joined too but got the navy for £785 so I'm happy very excited to collect it.
