hi everyone enjoying bikeing in the nice weather we are having in my area at the moment but just wondered being new to this can i cycle in the rain on an electric bike

Generally yes, the only thing to watch out for on some bikes is vulnerability to water getting behind insulation on cable joins, particularly any below the bottom bracket or elsewhere road spray acts on. I don't know what your Trailz is like in this respect, but best to just try it out in the rain since it's probably ok.

hi thanks for the reply i was wondering if i could use ignition sealer spray as used on cars on the more vunerable parts

The other one to be careful about is sealing up box sections (controller housing, etc) if any water does get in it may not be able to get out - it has happened to a few forum members .... me included :eek:

yes thats a good point about sealing to well i think i will try the wd 1st and see how that goes

Any part which is latterly sealed to be water resistant/proof may still get very damp even if the bike is not used in wet conditions! The moisture comes from the condensating air inside the enclosure! Unless the bike electrics has been designed to have a very high Ingress Protection (IP) Rating to ensure that it is airtight, applying retrospective sealing could be counterproductive.
The best way to protect the electrics in in an e-bike is to try and avoid large warm to cold (freezing) ambient temperature changes, something which could be difficult to achieve in UK winter time.
