You should get a bike or an ebike, you can just zoom past in the gap with ease.
But make sure you don't catch a pedal on a hump.

Unlikely on a big wheeled bike, but I've done it on the Brompton.

Hi RobF, as a newbie who doesn't get let out that much or "catch much hump", I for one would be interested in your Rose 29er vs Brompton nano thoughts as I see you ride them both. A new thread, a small essay would be of interest to many if you get the time.

I think the lesson here is simple.

Your bike obviously isn't powerful or fast enough, else she'd never have been able to stop you to give you a fine in the first place.

I think a copper tried to stop me once to speak to me about my bike. I'm not entirely sure as I never saw him again.

I would of course stop when arrested by the police..

But having a stronger motor would have made my journey safer as I'd be able to start out before any car.

Remember the time where 6 cyclists were dead in a couple of weeks? I can't remember of any of them killed because they crossed a red light.

My bet is that they respected the light and car/truck turned without looking.

Now I don't pass over car on intersection even if they don't have turn light on as sometime they just turn without notice.

What he did wrong in my view was not so much the light jumping but not being aware of what was around him, such as the presence of a police car. That's the lesson to learn, being fully aware when on the road is what avoids accidents and incidents like this.
What he did wrong was knowingly build an illegal bicycle and use it on the public highway in a reckless way and when stopped by the police was lucky to get away with a small auxiliary fine and now believes from his last post that more speed is the answer. My question to him is why did he create this thread and what he hoped the response would be.

Slightly off topic (I always love reading cwah's posts lol) I am in the process of restoring/changing a full sized 700c Reynolds 531 framed bike to a city bike to ride in to Cambridge with my wife at the weekends. Once it is done I will give a review of owning both a full sized bike and a Brompton.

I am also thinking of trying one of my Keyde motors on it. This is where this post is related in that I wondered what happens if you put a 260RPM motor on a 700c wheel ?

Will it over stress it or by restricting the current will it be fine but just a little fast ?

My Ezee 250rpm motor's fine on a 29" wheel, which I believe is similar to a 27, just measured diffrent; but, as we all know, it's a fairly robust motor.
Coincidentally, I checked it after a long, rather slow uphill recently & it was cold to the touch.

maximum speed 34kmph (21.2mph), wind resistance will be between 380W (ebike.ca simulator) 460W (my simulator), torque 17.1NM. Can the keyde motor gives 17NM at maximum speed? if not, then your maximum speed will be lower, less stress on the motor. If its sweet zone is around 260 * 0.85 = 221 RPM, then it'll be running at 30kmph (18.7mph), 288W.

Thanks guys. Man we should all be off our computers and out on our bikes lol

Here is the specs

http://www.keyde.com/?do=product&lang=en&event=view&ids=07

Click the tab for details

PS

This link says Maximum output torque(Nm) 35

http://www.keyde.com/?do=product&lang=en&event=view&ids=03

Thinking about it I also have a 3 speed switch for the controller so presumably I could use setting 2 for legal cycling and setting 3 for turbo/lycro wearing racing competitions :)

Or more seriously, program the controller to reduce the speed to say 17/18 mph. As you know I dont really have any hills in Cambridge just mainly flat and a few gentle inclines. Oops sorry I have hijacked this thread. I will start a new one for the bike once it is ready.

The only surprising news here is that it has taken the police so long to finally apprehend CWAH. He has been cwerving around central London at30mph on that souped up, much dented, mini wheeled, blazing wagon of his for years now. It's not the traffic but the counter terrorism boys who will get him in the end. I will miss his posts.

Being young is no excuse in my old and flailing eyes. CWAH has committed a criminal offense and many people the lenght and breadth of the country believe that should not be allowed.

CWAH has consistently rode to the fore at the head of the criminal tendancy of this forum and must be held to account for his actions, in short we should have a pedelection before this horror story hits tomorrows front page!
In mitigation he has stood up and honestly recounted his story, exposing to all the fragidity of his own moral compass. Whether, like Oscar Pretorious and Amanda Knox that will factor in the courts deliberation we dont know for sure but in the jailhouse ebikes are not generally considered amusing conversation. rip cwah. if your selling your batteries let me know eh?

I do not dislike Cwah my opening posts were to help him stop incriminating himself further.

For those who disliked my last post please consider the following video:

Edit: Link removed.

If this is an example of the "blind eye" policy tying the hands of the police then I hope the the new laws are adopted sooner rather than later before anybody gets seriously hurt.

Cool video :p

Seriously I doubt any repremanding on here will change cwah's choice to build and ride the bikes he does. We all have choices and consequences of making them. In my experience you can push the risk so far till eventually one of the consequences bites you in the ass. That's usally when I back off a little lol

I have definately noticed that as I get older I become more risk adverse. The other day after climbing up to the apex of the roof on a ladder to take down an ariel, I have decided that it's the last time I will climb a ladder that high again. When I was 20, I would not have even thought twice about it.
