Issues with XOFO motor core?

Hi, posting from Australia in desperation for trouble shooting answer. Own 2nd hand Leitner CrossX bike. Has a XOFO motor core with single magnet. 36V 250 watt motor.
Issue: kms and speed stay at 0 regardless of use on LCD display. Could be PAS, LCD, ECU or Speed sensor on motor core. ECU replaced. no difference. Initial assist I am guessing through torque until around 4-5 pedal rotations then no assistance. No input from motor. Like pedalling through wet sand :(
LCD display works in relation to displaying all other functions, battery power assistance mode etc. PAS appears clean and tidy although not multi meter checked. Speed sensor appears clean and tidy as taken motor core apart to assess. Bike factory thought ECU so replaced then they want me to replace LCD. LCD is generic KM529 used on many bikes King Meter. Wheel size set up correctly, bike has throttle which works.

I have extensively goggled and can simply not pin point issue accurately, help please with more ideas.

Can use bike with throttle only as assistance but defeats purpose of having a e bike if you cant have controlled and continued assistance,

Thanks
Justine

You have no speed displayed, so your speed sensor is probably not working. The speed signal goes along the white wire in the motor cable to the controller. You can test it with a voltmeter. It will either stay 5v and dip down to zero when the magnet passes or rest at zero and step up to 5v. Assuming that's what's wrong, you can fix it by installing an external wheel magnet type of any sort - two or three wires.

Without a speed sensor, most controllers enter sleep mode and shut down after the set number of minutes.

I have to go now. I'll give you more later.

First question:
1. Before the motor cuts, does anything happen on the LCD, like battery indicator going down or LCD switches off.

I've just seen that you said the throttle works. Assuming that you mean it works all the time, the problem can only be the pedal sensor. Do you have the magnet disc type or the type that's integrated into the bottom bracket?

Nope. LCD behaves as normal. Has power - battery doesn’t change. Kms just stay at 0.00 regardless.

We gather it’s a magnet disk type mounted as part of the pedal componentery. I have a photo but don’t know how to post it

The speed and distance aren't displayed because there's a problem with your speed sensor. That's probably a separate problem.

Is the LCD merely just that a display unit only and is the info from the speed sensor what determines the info on the display?

Post one tomorrow might take another one. So you think two issues, PAS / speed sensor on motor core ?

The common problems with pedal sensors are water in them, the disc starts slipping on the shaft or the gap is wrong. The gap should be an even 1mm from the sensor.

Saneagle thank you for you answers I will report back tomorrow after checking white wire and closing the distance of the pas which is at least 5-6mm not 1mm. Good night for now!!

The speed sensor makes a varying frequency pulse that goes to the controller CPU. The CPU then send the encoded speed information up the data wires to the LCD. If other functions are working, there can be no problems with the data or the data wires.

Most LCDs have a setting for the number of magnets in the speed sensor. If you set it to zero, instead of using the speed sensor, it will calculate the speed from the commutation pulses. In that mode, the speed goes to zero whenever you're freewheeling because the motor stops in that state. Download the manual for your LCD to see the settings. Chinese in the manual often needs a bit of decoding to figure out speed sensor and magnets, but you should get it if you're good at logic.
